It's not the HDD factories that got flooded, it's the place that makes the motors. There's only one factory because there's jack shit profit in it. If there was more than 1 place doing it they'd be selling them at a loss. It's the same for many small obscure computer parts.

so that's why prices of technology products often decrease more and more because the manufacturer is trying to produce and create stocking capacity for the newer model(s)? i notice that rarely are there ever computer components that people revere as still excellent by modern standards that are no longer in production, seeing as how technology continues to increase in quality/speed/etc. so in theory tomorrow's (or a quarter from now) budget build will be a little bit better for the price than current components available.

But if I would have to buy a new HDD for storage (5400RPM), this is how much more I would have to pay compared to some days ago.

Can't see myself filling it up any time soon. I mean I easily could if I wanted to, just download a lot of shit that I'll probably never get around to watching. But every couple months I can usually go through and free up space by deleting shit I don't need anymore, have already watched and probably won't ever watch again, etc.

As it is flash manufacturers can't even keep up with demand for flash to use in consumer electronics, SSDs, etc. That's why SSD prices haven't really dropped much over the last year or so. There's super high demand for them already but pretty limited supply.
