48 KB Thieves preying on fellow Wall Street protesters... Anonymous 10/19/11(Wed)14:20 No.20672707
Occupy Wall Street protesters said yesterday that packs of brazen crooks within their ranks have been robbing their fellow demonstrators blind, making off with pricey cameras, phones and laptops -- and even a hefty bundle of donated cash and food.

“Stealing is our biggest problem at the moment,” said Nan Terrie, 18, a kitchen and legal-team volunteer from Fort Lauderdale.

“I had my Mac stolen -- that was like $5,500. Every night, something else is gone. Last night, our entire [kitchen] budget for the day was stolen, so the first thing I had to do was . . . get the message out to our supporters that we needed food!”

Crybaby protesters are being supported by charity organizations because they can't do shit on their own. They don't have their parents to support them, so they whine and charities pity them.

    TIME TO DRINK EVERYONE

LOTS OF AMERICANS ITT WHO DON'T HAVE LEGITIMATE NEWS SOURCES ACTUALLY TELLING THEM WHAT'S HAPPENING AND WHY THESE PEOPLE ARE PROTESTING

Go on. Keep defending a small, extremely destructive branch of society you don't even belong to or profit from.

Yes, yes, very good. You're good corporate lapdogs, very good. The corporate media propaganda has worked. Just as planned.

Here is why these people are actually protesting. I know you don't hear that on the news, but here in Europe the news channels are actually news, that's why all polls in nearly all countries show 90-95% support of the protesters while in MURRKA it's like 60%.

Oh god I don't want to feed the obvious troll.

Here's the answer to this whole thing:

The government has proven that they'll spend revenue acquired from taxes irresponsibly. Now we will tax the rich, and give more revenue to the government.

That's like giving more crack to a crack addict. It makes no sense.

Once the tax is in place, they'll progressively lower the wage requirements of "who's the rich", justified to pay off the increased dept they'll keep making so long as we keep giving them more revenue to irresponsibly spend!

One year people who make over 1 mil a year is affected by this proposed taxation. The next year $100,000. The year after that $60,000. "Hey! They make more money than these people, so I consider them rich!"

The problem is not under-taxation...it's over spending.

Finally, the "99%" are not really the 99%
The REAL 99% is busy working hard, hating their bosses, but thankful they have a job in the first place.
These people protesting are the minority of the population that's poor AND/OR are young kids who make so little while living off of their parents while in college, they are exempt from paying taxes anyway! So who are they to represent anyone?

Most people understand this. That is why everyone is laughing at them.

A study done by University of Texas economists James K. Galbraith and Travis Hale found that most of the gains enjoyed by the top 1% came from a small number of counties, rather than a national trend. Almost all of the richest 1%'s gains occurred in the economic hotbeds of Silicon Valley and New York City. If the top four counties in those regions are removed, there is almost no trend towards income inequality in the US in recent decades. On this basis, the researchers ascribe the recent growth in income inequality to the growth of information technology.

These people are NOT just stupid college kids and if that is your reason why you don't defend the protests I feel very fucking sorry that you are so narrow-minded. Nobody except very few people benefit if the current trend of the richer getting even richer and the middle class being systematically destroyed continues, let alone gets worse if another corporate puppet like Cain or Perry get elected.

You don't profit, your children don't profit and your grandchildren most certainly won't profit because I doubt that they will have clean air to breathe, water to drink or land to farm just because "it was good for the economy" today.

It's so fucking unfortunate that this 1960 kind of mindset of socialism vs capitalism stuck to America and every time some people stand up for themselves they get called "dirty hippies" and immediately attacked. Do you not see that the reason why they're telling you that the protesters are dirty socialist college kids fighting for communism is that they're actually scared of a revolution?

A healthy society rests on 2 pillars: Democracy and Wealth. If democracy is turned to a plutocracy or oligarchy where only very few people rule the majority of the people, sooner or later the citizens will realize that their needs are no longer appreciated.

If as a result of a few gamblers at wall street millions of americans are suddenly unemployed, lose their home, their life savings, their hope and their future, the second pillar is destroyed.

There wouldn't be hundreds of thousands of protesters in over 1500 cities if something wasn't fundamentally wrong with our system

Very few people disagree with the ideals.

The wallstreet idiots aren't supporting a fight against the 1%. They're attacking people that they "think" are richer than themselves (the people on wallstreet). You can write up doctrines all you want, but it means nothing when you're so fearful and hypocritical that the only people you feel safe attacking are the other people going to their 99% jobs. You think Bill Gates has a stroll through wallstreet every day?

I've read a lot of comments from these people complaining along the lines of 'these wall street bankers make lots of money sitting at their desks and doing very little work for it.' I fucking guarantee you almost every one of those kids protesting deep down inside is really just butthurt that they aren't doing that exact thing right after getting their worthless liberal arts degrees like they were promised and deluded into thinking. If they were real poor working class they would be unemployed or on strike pipe fitters or factory workers, not grad students refusing to take jobs that are available. Its not the banks' fault that a degree in anthropology or philosophy or some shit is just about as useful as not having a degree at all to just about everyone who is actually hiring.

Instead you make the completely unfounded assumption that you have a monopoly on truth and knowledge and start spamming them with monumentally insulting attacks on their character and intelligence and bombarding them with links and videos that you insist they digest in full before they're even qualified to speak to you.

I don't know when this shit became the accepted norm among protestfags and so-called "politically conscious" people, but I find it an abhorrent corruption of intelligent and reasoned disagreement. If you paid no money to any of the Walmart executives you could raise the wage of the average worker by .09$ an hour.

If you think there was ever a truly socialist or communist country you're a retard.

Communism is a system where everybody, without exception, would be happy.

Dictators hijacked the revolutions and turned them into a horribly oppressive dictatorship.

If you want to claim that I'm wrong, the burden of proof lies on you. It's simply social science.

A corporation is legally a person, and as time has gone on and as they've gained more money, with it came political power. So, they used it to weigh the system better in their favor which has created an exponential effect of the gap between class wealth.

Jesus fucking Christ why is /g/ so uneducated? I'm really glad for this thread I now know without doubt to disregard any advice I ever see on here because this board is full of brainwashed Americans.

Fox news: "they don't know what they're protesting about"
"they're rich so their opinion is invalid"
"they're poor so their opinion is invalid"
"protect the 'job creators' who statistically store much more of their money, pay lower percentage taxes than the average receptionist and destroy the fucking economy by engaging in tacitly government-backed ridiculous bets which employees of the financial enterprise can only profit from, ultimately from the taxpayer"

/g/ posters: "repeat all of the above"

If I'd been playing the drinking game I've be having my stomach pumped by now. Have you guys really not yet realised that your high court and government have been captured by corporations??? "Corporations have the same right to freedom of speech as people, and we define freedom of speech to include unlimited political donations"

I would put any money on America in the 90s-10s (presuming you eventually stop this shit) being used by political scientists as THE case study in why you keep money out of politics

Fox news isn't the outlet saying that you have no idea what you're protesting about. They're the outlet calling you people communists. The other news outlets are the ones pointing out that the protest is mindless. Everyone hates the french, but at least they can protest properly and attack specific issues, instead of this vague generalization of how the rich have created a gap of wealth.

It disgusts me the propaganda they feed you Americans, and how eagerly you gulp it down. "Yes, Fox, tell me more about how the protesters are just a bunch of unemployed leftie college dropouts!" "Tell me more about how they have no coherent message!" "Tell me more about how EVIL socialism and communism are, and how PERFECT capitalism is!" "Of course everyone can be easily categorized under one of two political wings!" "Of course we must never agree with the other side on anything!" No wonder you're so obese.

I don't understand why I should be protesting. Sure I am part of the so called 99% but my life is not turmoil. I make enough money to make ends meet and have fun at the same time and I don't plan on getting married or having kids because of all the societal problems associated with divorce and property rights.

So why should I protest if I currently enjoy my life and none of the 1% people even affect my day to day activities?

The OWS people never can answer my question, lol.

Do you have healthcare coverage? Even if you do you're (directly or indirectly) paying an insane amount too much for it, I don't have the stats but American healthcare costs are (orders of magnitude?) more than the British pay to cover EVERYONE.

Also, the control of the government by corporations in America is already bad but the recent ruling on unlimited donations will take it to a whole new level. If your attitude is that you'll only protest by the time your own middle-class life has turned to shit then by that time you'll be protesting against a police state, I'd sooner take my chance with the tear gas than the tanks ala Tiananmen. And don't think that's a crazy idea that it would get that far, you'd be amazed how fast the shit hits the fan once the government isn't controlled by the people.

Because every white boy deserves everything that they thought their privilege would get them, they deserve it right now, and not a penny less.

And once they get what they want, they'll do exactly what their parents did and turn on organized labor and everything else they stood for so fast it'll make your head spin.

Storytime! I'm a software engineer making 90k a year. I bought a small house and got a roommate, decent car (used by one owner), decent computer; used speakers for home theater, everything at best price/performance ratio I can manage.

Friend is a substitute teacher. Spends 3k on a computer to have top of the line everything. 4k on tv and home theater. Gets married, buys a house twice as big as mine. Wife pregnant. Keeps buying expensive stuff.
    >complains that he can barely pay his bills and he should get more tax breaks because pregnant

Another guy buys a house again twice as big as mine, wife loses job and never goes back to work. Nice furniture, new car etc. - declares bankruptcy. So the rest of us are footing the bill for 80k of his debt (it doesn't just disappear, somebody gets screwed for this type of shit.)

People don't want to live within their means. Maybe you can't afford kids and a designer kitchen. If you don't have money in the bank stop buying shit on credit. If I lived in NY or LA I'd be poor too - that's why I don't live there!

I have healthcare coverage and I only pay 11 dollars per month for it. I am not worried about the coverage because it takes care of just about every problem that could happen, but I never get sick so I never used it.

Still waiting for a real reason I should be protesting.

$5,500 is more than I have spent on ALL of my PCs in my entire life.
