scary thing about the thread the OP is referring to is that I saw it,
read it, understood it, and had absolutely zero reason to dismiss it as
conjecture AFTER the announcement that Jobs had died yesterday.

bit too coincidental, and if he really did die at some point prior to
the October 4th event (could have been the day before, could have been
last week, etc, but two weeks is a bit tough to swallow I suppose), then
yes I can see why they would hold off on the announcement because of
what it could do to the unveiling of the iPhone 4S.
They may have
been forced into the October 4th event because of his death. They
normally announce events with several weeks advance notice - this time
it was barely what, a week's notice? Hardly the company standard for
Apple.
It just seemed a bit too pressured, meaning the event itself. There was no joy in it, no real humor, obviously no Steve Jobs.
This is going to damage Apple in ways even Jobs himself couldn't foresee. |
