10/05/11(Wed)15:30 No.20397779Parts-wise,
the Macbook and Macbook Pro lines are not "god-tier". They use inferior
parts and cut corners that companies like Lenovo, Sony, and Dell simply
do not. Their reputation comes from their outstanding warranty service
and their willingness to replace the shit parts if and when they
malfunction, but this does not make their products good, it simply makes
their lax efforts tolerable to the average consumer. This, combined
with industry-leading interface devices, sets Apple apart. Their laptops
though are not fundamentally 'good' in the same rite as Lenovo or
Dell's are.
This coming from a guy who fixes computers for a
living and has taken apart several examples of each. The most rugged and
the most thoughtfully designed laptop in terms of cooling that I've
ever disassembled was a Dell Inspiron 8100 from around 2001. Damn fine
machine. I'm recycling it tomorrow, sorry to see it go. |
