4chan is a shit hole

Canv.as is meant to encourage the creation of OC rather than repost-repost-repost-repost the way it is on 4chan. I dislike it in practice, but I think it's a cool concept.

It's not moot's fault. 4chan's userbase grows exponentially each year and that means higher bandwidth and probably faster servers needed. Both are hosted in different places. Canvas is just a way to make money, hopefully he can buy some new lines soon.

4chan never turned a profit for Moot, but it did lead him to this opportunity.

Canvas is terrible IMO though. I got an early Beta invitation at the start of this year, but i only ended up using the actual site maybe 6 or 7 times.

It's just like any of those meme caption sites, crossed with Reddit. So a cluster fuck of awful.

Too tell you the truth, I think this is a good idea, HOWEVER I think he lucked out.

See, reddit is taking a lot of 4chans steam lately mostly do to it's image postings. I think canv.as is what the internet would have evolved into after the reddit fad. I think canv.as might actually be too early for it's time (ala friendster).

I'm not a big fan of moot, but this link OP posted is a pretty good example of the next step in memedom/crowd sourced art.

My only suggestion would be some sort of POST TO REDDIT thing with a canv.as water mark on the pictures or something.

Look at smaller russian and japanese imageboards. They have a LOT of boards and they all tend to be pretty good.

They got a board for warhammer, separate boards for technology and hardware, separate boards for mmmos and regular vidya, boards for furries and ponies and posting those otside of their respective boards is prohibited.
Their moot is also quite active. He's got a board for suggestions and complaints and initiates events.
