09/22/11(Thu)20:19 No.20168166Am I the only one who knows of the Muon experiments in the atmosphere?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muons
Basically
a long time ago they tested how long Muons take to reach the surface of
the earth from the atmosphere and, by measurements, it turns out they
shouldn't be able to cause their life time (or whatever you call it)
expires well before that so they shouldn't, theoretically, ever reach
the surface of the Earth. However, experiments proved that they actually
did touch the Earth surface. What did that mean? That meant that, at
such high velocity (close to c) time and space act weird and the
observer's point of view matters when doing calculations and
measurements. Muons actively lived for their lifetime, however
scientists not moving as fast as Muons measured a different time. Both
are correct and Einstein is proven right.
I think this may be the
same case, they are probably forgetting something in the point of the
observer/observee.. It's just a small detail they forgot and it will
eventually turn out to be false and that the neutrinos actually are
moving close (or equal to) speed of light.
I know, those are
reputable scientists and everything... but journalists are not...
probably someone said "hey wait, this shit is weird and shouldn't be
happening. Better check our results again" and a journalist understood
"OH MY GOD THIS WILL CHANGE THE LAWS OF PHYSICS FOREVER, EINSTEIN IS
WRONG AND WE ARE ABLE TO TIME TRAVEL AND SWITCH DIMENSIONS"
