While our software processes the requested challenge(image). The CAPTCHA widget is replaced with a
paid banner. The unintrusive banner does not open any new tabs or windows unless clicked on.

OK, small add in exchange for using their service.
Seems reasonable, not Jewish at all.

Gonna read up on it some more before installing, though, still kind sounds like a scam.
Also I am worried this will just lead to the fuckers at ReCAPTCHA (all my hate) making it even harder to read to avoid OCR.

Moot has money, he's no longer the fucktard living with his mom using her cc to pay server bills.

For fuck sakes he went to japan and brazil for the fuck of it. After server cost he probably makes 70-80k a year for doing NOTHING. except for the captcha he hasn't changed a thing about the site for years.

Is it me, or are the ads not showing up?

All I see is "brought to you by unCAPTCHA".
Will they add real ads later, or is ABP blocking them?

He took the canv.as startup money and fled to mootxico (then Japan/Brazil). His trip to Japan might have been paid for him by Nicovideo or whoever sponsored the interview. He doesn't make a lot of money from 4chan. He stopped accepting donations and the ad revenue is just enough to keep the site afloat.
    >except for the captcha he hasn't changed a thing about the site for years.
That wasn't moot, that was MrVacBob. moot does very little of the actual development of the site.

This is what I don't get:

reCAPTCHA was created to digitize newspapers and books by using humans where OCR fails.

Then how the fuck could an OCR program solve reCAPTCHA???

I don't think you understand how involved OCR is, especially when it comes to breaking CAPTCHAs. The guy could get rich off this, but the OCR thing is an obvious sham.

One word can be recognized by OCR. The other can't. It doesn't matter what you put for the one that OCR can't read. In fact, you don't even need to put anything for it, just a space to indicate that there's more than one word.

k, simply put. The firefox addon adds this script every page you visit
    http://segnosis.net/uncaptcha/releases/1.0/uncaptcha.js

This script monitors every picture you click on, if the image source url begins with the recaptcha url. It sends that image to our server. My OCR solves the captcha the best it can and sends the answer back to your page. Once it has the answer it inserts it into the captcha answer text box and changes the banner image to one that has a red border so you know its ready.

If you want more details you can visit:

    >ITT people who don't know what reCAPTCHA is

If his script sends you solved captchas, it sure as shit isn't solving them. He'll be paying a bunch of Chinamen 0.01 cents per CAPTCHA solved and making money off the ad revenue.

reCAPTCHA is digitizing old New York Times Articles and books, and is owned by Google. They'll have the best OCR out there, and they send out CAPTCHAs when their software can't read a word, which is what makes reCAPTCHA so secure.

    Confirmed.

Meaning it makes loading any pages, even those without CAPTCHA ,(slightly) slower.
So you might want to turn it off when not using it.

It is true my software will not be open source since it will completely destroy all CAPTCHASs and most likely be used in bots that spam advertisements on thousands of websites.

If you have any other questions, in time I will set up a feedback page to answer them when I am available.

    >they send out CAPTCHAs when their software can't read a word, which is what makes reCAPTCHA so secure.

    They send out two words:
    - One word they computed with OCR
    - One unknown word they want idiots like you to type in for them.

You only have to get the first word correct.
The only thing making it harder for others is the fact they altered the known word a bit.

For example, adding boards.4chan.org in the javascript, and the script only loads on that site.
