It has been over 133 years and we still use QWERTY.

    Why?
    >> Anonymous 09/08/11(Thu)07:25 No.19893950
Because we've been using it for 133 years.

Who would of thought back in the 1800s QWERTY would be used on magic telephones that you can carry everywhere.

Convention, and the drawbacks are fairly minor. I'd rather change from base 10.

It won't go away until we stop using keyboards as input methods.

Nothing overtly terrible with it but just to see I switched over to dvorak. Still giving me trouble, motor memory is hard to retrain, but so far I really like it. QWERTY now feels like an unwieldily way to type.
However I have come to realize that it's friggin everywhere meaning if im not using my own computer im pecking. Beware!
I hope I can learn to switch between them seemlessly

I do touch type, at about 100wpm [when I try], so that's not a problem. I'm not about to forget the keys.

I want to change the layout to increase productivity/speed, which I ascertain is the main point for DVORAK.

So DVORAK or is there anything better?

If you call it DVORAK it is easy to infer you think that they reason for its name is because the keys layout like QWERT's do. It's Dvorak.
