I now use my smartphone when I want to listen to music on the go. However my D3's screen is still quite a bit better than my Arrive's. D3 uses a fucking awesome AMOLED display were as my Arrive simply uses an SLC (or a VA panel in non-marketing speak).

Also I've tested it. My iRiver into relatively moderate quality headphones (Sennheiser HD595) sounds much better than any Apple device. The treble smearing and graininess is considerably less.
