I need advice, I notice my obsession with computers and am planning to pursue a career in computer engineering. I plan to apply for ITT tech in clovis california(not great but will do) Is there anything I can learn to be well prepared???

    >ITT Tech
    No.
Go to an actually credible college/ university.

As for preparation read some basic level programming and computer architecture stuff first. Although a lot of the lower level courses are built for anyone with 0 experience, having that knowledge already going in will help quite a bit.

    I can't afford a good college.

Now, when you say "computer engineering", to what extent do you want to do that? Like, designing the schematics for motherboards and stuff?

Do community college. It's infinitely better than ITT Tech.

I will do some research on that thnx.

Not trying to sound like an ass, but if you want a good education, join the guard, they'll pay a good portion of your education if not all and you'll get paid. Also you only work one weekend (2days) a month. It's what I did because I was poor, middle class etc

Somewhere in the line of programming.

I'm assuming he means software engineering or sys admin. OP if you actually want to be an electronic engineer then I suggest a proper university course

    DO NOT GO TO ITT.

There was a thread recently of people looking for ideas on how to kill ITT heads. It's a scam for government assistance.

If you want to end up being a design engineer, know calculus, some physics, that sort of shit. Now, if you're poor, you either ruin yourself with student loans, go to a university immediately, then get an engineering job making niggerloads of money and pay off the loans, OORRRRRRRR

Go to a community college and take the Electronics Technician program. This gets you into the industry, and internship(s) will get you connections. After completing that program, get a job at a company that will help pay for school and pay you enough that you won't go massively in debt while attending school, then become an engineer. Electronics techs are in fairly high demand, for me, it was pretty easy to find a high-paying (for the industry) job.

    This.

Even a basic Accredited Community College is better than ITT tech.
With a CC you get a degree that is certified saying you know your shit.

If you wanted you could start your own ITT tech style school and give out a "degree" to any chucklefuck that passes by, but it won't mean shit.

If you want programming, go for Computer Science.
Computer engineering is more focused on the relation between hardware and the computer itself.
CS is more focused on your general Java/ C/ Python, etc. programming to make programs for computers.

    I.E. Programming robotics and such.
