It just reminds me of two things
    1) Anonymity is an illusion and anyone who buries their head in it is delusional
    2) This thought that everyone is entitled to anonymity on the internet just outs the people espousing that view as culturally naive. Anonymity has never been a component of society. There has never been an expectation of anonymity in the history of mankind. Perhaps one could argue a right to privacy, but privacy and anonymity are completely different things with only tangential relationship to each other.

These guys were in some cases child abusers, and whether we joke about it or not, child abuse isn't acceptable. Society is strict on that in virtually every community around the world. Screwing a girl before she's old enough to carry a child is virtually universally considered wrong. So I'm not too upset that these guys got nailed and I'm none too distressed that - in the process of getting these guys - the DoJ also illustrated that your notions of anonymity and freedom to say WHATEVER you want is completely made up.

Moot would sell you out to the feds if they came to him with a post indicating deliberate intent to do something violent and illegal. He would, and so would any other sane admin, no matter how much you think they defend that "Anonymous is lejun durp" nonsense.

I concur, only children past puberty are attractive, and then there are plenty of "just 18" sites that have legal girls that look 14.

Pedofags are into it because of some physiological inferiority complex or something, I saw a show about it once, not really because they are that attracted to the physical body of children. Or something like that, I'm not a psychologist. Whatever the case its sick and they need to be put to death probably, or at least put in jail.

That's why real life is not the internet. I for one am distressed by governments using child porn as a scapegoat for spying and censorship. There has got to be a more proactive way to stop child pornographers then create a bunch of nanny laws that have extreme potential for abuse. A certain level of online anonymity is always going to be necessary to protect free speech.

The fact is that the government has a right to show up at your front door with a warrant and just come right the fuck in. Similarly, they can watch you from across the street and follow you around town and the only thing they have to get cleared is internal permission for budget stuff.

The internet is fundamentally different from real life, but that's a double edged sword. If the purpose of freedom for cops to watch you from afar is so that they can observe your public actions without interfering with your privacy, then there must be some way to facilitate that on the internet. Furthermore, when people turn to things like TOR and whatnot, there needs to be a set of rules delineating when cops can and cannot break in (assuming that's even possible in a given situation).

The only solution to the threat of scapegoating and corruption is accountability. Make the punishment for illegal wiretapping as serious as breaking into someone's home. Consider it a real crime, and not just a logistical mixup or a paperwork fuckup. When an investigator knows that illegally accessing someone's data without a warrant will mean his job, he won't break the rule. When a president knows that violating the intellectual property privacy of individuals is as serious as breaking into their offices and spying on them illegally, only 1 president will be so audacious as to attempt such an act.

There have always been and will always be secret organizations in the government which just act above the law. And if they go through your apartment or office, you've got no recourse. That sucks. Trying to get rid of them would be like trying to eliminate corruption. Sure we endeavor, but only a profoundly naive person would think it's actually completely doable.

TOR isn't anonymous, they can easily obtain your real IP, its best to use a proxy with TOR.

Even then there is no way to remain completely anonymous, its just a matter of how much effort it would be to catch you. You could probably get away with ordering drugs and such with TOR because they don't really care that much. But for child porn sites you better be using multiple proxies.

The truth is that nothing (offline or online) is totally anonymous. We have this notion of anonymity because
    A) we feel safe in our underwear sitting in front of our humming computer, and
    B) law enforcement has historically been slow on the uptake. It's like we're committing an IRL bank heist and then when the cops chase after us and jump into our getaway car, the cops go "holy fuck how did he do that? What the fuck was that thing he jumped into?" as we drive away.

Give them a few weeks though and they'll figure out what a car is and how to make one work for them. Then you'll need something cleverer than a getaway car.

By the same analogy, there was a time when police enforcement had no idea what the fuck TOR was or how proxies worked. They learned quickly, and now if you're committing a seriously heinous crime (worthy of national law enforcement and investigation), you better have brought a fucking rocket ship, not a getaway car.

In terms of health effects and addiction, yes weed is much better than alcohol if you use something like a vaporizer (smoke is bad). But both weed and alcohol's effects are very manageable compared to other drugs. In terms of the impact of drugs to society, its any one's personal choice if they want to use drugs, but alcohol and weed have less negative effect on other people than the majority of other drugs.

They don't go into details, which isn't surprising. Dunno if folks were using Tor, but there were proxies involved, at least. And yes, the Feds probably did post some CP to get in there. They wouldn't have been able to do so otherwise.

And I've always wondered about Tor. It wouldn't be surprising at all to see the partyvan have a lot of their own nodes in the Tor network. Now, let's presume that they have the nodes spread out both physically and logically in the network, each with high bandwidth so they get plenty of traffic. If you were intent enough with capturing and analyzing all traffic at every node and comparing all the data, would it be possible to pinpoint the entry node? I'm thinking this might just be doable.

And if my understanding is correct, a lot of people will host relay nodes, but are hesitant to host entry/exit nodes. Leaves a nice dearth of them for the partyvan.

However, if you don't have the entry/exit node, it might be possible to pinpoint the entry if you can capture enough traffic across the network. I can't say as this really isn't my area of expertise, but if the partyvan had a way to do this, you can bet your ass they wouldn't make it public.

Like I said - if there were no CP, they will find another scapegoat. If there were no CP, they would ban regular porn and request monitoring the Internet to enforce this ban. And most people will support that, because porn watchers are a minority. They could ban (violent) video games and monitor Internet to enforce that, and people will support them because most people don't play violent video games. There's always some kind of minority that could be banned for whatever reason.

But that's beyond the point - no government will ever grant you a right to free speech, because it is never a benefit for them. Only technology and science, encryption and anonymization mechanism are able to do that - math is not prone to corruption. And the pedophiles are the ones to push the development of this technology right now. They are this just by chance - it could be gamers, drug users, porn users or any other minority. Pedophiles just happened to be the ones most targeted now. Pedophiles are truly holy people.

    >And most people will support that, because porn watchers are a minority.
I wouldn't be so sure about that. Porn is a massive, multi-billion dollar industry and one of the driving forces of the internet. Porn has already been through the constitutional rigamarole, too.
    >They could ban (violent) video games and monitor Internet to enforce that, and people will support them because most people don't play violent video games.
Funny, this has been tried, and it has failed in the US. The most they've been able to do is try to enforce the illegality of selling mature games to minors, which is a far cry from banning violent video games.

    > Funny, this has been tried, and it has failed in the US.
Like I said, CP is the current scapegoat, there's no need to ban everything else. Putting something else at the same level as CP would diminish the political value of CP, it was a huge investment and the politicians wouldn't just throw it away. Unless some politician decides to get more appeal. And then there are other countries like Australia or Germany who actually did that.

Legalize it and regulate it. Softcore nudes should be fine, but seriously fucked up rape and torture should be cracked down on even harder. Castration for a first time offense and execution for repeat offenders.

Yup. Legalize possession and growing of limited amounts (one plant per person?). Tax retail of plants, leaves, and seeds heavily, and anyone found to be doing shit under the table goes to prison for ten years and gets their business liquidated to fund the program.

Yeah, bongs, bling-bling in forms of marijuana leafs and tshirts with such logos, listening to dope music and stuff like that all should be legal, but seriously fucked up shit like actually smoking it should be cracked down on even harder. Castration for a first time offense and execution for repeat offenders.

I think we can all agree there's a pretty clear line between smoking the leaves of a plant and torturing a child.

    >Same can be said about drugs and violent videogames
Wrong. Violent video games are not going anywhere. There isn't anywhere remotely close to a hard enough push to get rid of them. Drugs are illegal, however, the tide is slowly turning against that in the US. It'll be a while before politicians do anything, but there are far more people who would push for the decriminalization of drugs (especially pot) than CP. You still don't have a point.
    >Same was said about child porn, btw.
Pardon me, a multi-billion dollar legit industry that has been legit for some time. It's pretty tough to take down a legal multi-billion dollar industry. Too much money can stuff congressional pockets. Was CP ever a legit industry, at least in modern times? It isn't really an industry. It's a loose collection of underground sickos swapping stuff, and even if it were legal, it would still be far less prevalent than the adult porn industry as many people would still rage at it.
    >Meanwhile porn is actually banned in several countries. You can get in jail or even receive a death sentence for distributing it online.
Yeah, they're called "third world shitholes", usually in SE Asia or the Middle East. They're often run by theocracies or dictatorships. That's not the US.
    >Explain it to soccer moms. They wish you dead, regardless if you are a pedo, a gamer or a stoner. And they vote.
Bullshit. The kids of those soccer moms are often playing violent video games. They may not like stoners, but if you think they hate gamers or stoners as much as pedos then you are even more out of touch with reality than I thought.

    >Oh my, what do we see here, a torrent of fallacies and name-calling. So you already resigning? Good dog.
If the shoe fits, pal. What we have here is the truth: The warping of reality by pedos so they can desperately try to justify their grotesque actions. They're not heros. They're sickos feeding a compulsion when they should damned well know better. I'm calling a spade a spade. The only thing your arguments have done is show how obscenely out of touch with reality you really are, which is par for the course with pedos. Enjoy your cognitive dissonance in believing that pedos are actually serving a purpose with their shit other than getting even more kids raped. As we see from the bust of this site, there were rewards for submitting homemade content, and people were doing just that. If you don't think that shit like that ENCOURAGES kids to get raped then you should do the world a favor and remove yourself from it. Take out some of your fellow NAMBLA members while you're at it.
