Look at this picture. That are users that need 'tech help'. We prefer to sage them. A wiki will take away leverage.

A wiki can have a very good structure and much more organised than a forum, let alone an imageboard.

okay but who would write it?
/g/ can't agree on ANYTHING, it would just be editing hell, everybody trying to delete anything they don't like, trolls trying to delete everything, then somebody will hack it and delete everything

somebody is going to have to host it/create it, and you know they aren't going to make responsible people admins, they're going to make their friends or people who agree with them or suck up to them the most the admins, so it's just going to be a "friends of x" club, look how that worked out with #/g/tv

    I don't think it's a workable idea with the users /g/ has

It's not really about agreeing to anything. Yes, we have our differences, but facts are facts, and generally when it comes to this most of us have a good consensus.

ie, no one here has a problem when we write that "Model A is good for doing X", but the problem occurs when we write "Model A is better than doing X than model B" without sufficient research to back it up.

The whole point of a wiki is to provide facts, and opinions based on hard research. And I think /g/ is civil enough to handle it.

I'd say, start up the wiki, people who want to contribute start. See how it goes from there.
Keep the memes to a minimum, or none at all.
Pages locked by default? unlocked after a thread on /g/ discussing it?

I believe, for at least the first little while, only registered and approved members can make changes to the wiki, so that it doesn't start off as a trollfest. Then move to more of what wikipedia has, where if people constantly troll, revert and lock except for registered/mods to edit.
