Making a pic takes too much work...

    God Tier
HTC G1, 2008-2010 (The first, or one of the first Android phones. It was awesome, it replaced my Blackberry, which I enjoyed as well.)
Blackberry (I don't know the model) 2007-2008 (This was great for texting, and text entry itself.)

    Okay Tier:
HTC Nexus One 2010-Now (It's a pretty awesome phone, but it's missing a keyboard, which is something I really want)
Motorola Krazr (or Krzr?) 2006-2007 (My first phone. It was the phone for cool kids back in day. I remember liking it, but it's shit compared to the phones you can get now.)

I think I'm going to get that Samsung Galaxy phone with a keyboard next.

office of the president of AT&T

    HTC was "lol dont care"
ATT OOTP was "please dont complaint to the AG and BBB, have these brand new free phones"

I had to call in via skype because the tilt 2 that me and my mum had were same batch and had same issue, managed to get hung up on 7 different times by AT&T in a matter of 6 hours, left a nasty nasty message, pretty much yelling at them saying everything short of "im suing". Needless to say, they got off their asses and fixed it within 24 hours. Now if only the rest of their mindless minions were like that...

havent had one issue with my Captivate since the switch like almost 5 months ago..

as i said in the last thread, wont happen. it causes a monopoly on GSM networks, hence no merger. T-Mobile will be getting some of ATTs AWS 4G frequency though, because of the deal AT&T and T-Mo made if the merger falls thru (T-Mo gets like 3 Billion iirc plus AWS)

    Cool link, bro.

But an author's opinion is just that. I had an iphone4, too. It's screen was alright. Grey blacks, poor motion response. Very sharp, though, even in front of your face.

He seemed to really miss the point, and you can always tell when they mention brightness - OLEDs don't have to be adjusted to burn your eyes out - you have to with LCDs to compensate for their terrible contrast.

You obviously dont understand the concept of a monopoly do you?

Only one GSM provider = Only one provider of a certain good = monopoly

T-Mo and ATT are the biggest and only nationwide GSM cell carriers in the states, Verizon, US Cellular and Sprint are the CMDA ones.

We have to have at minimum two of both GSM and CDMA for their not to be a monopoly of each cell service type. Not everyone one wants GSM and not everyone wants CDMA. I know there a lot of fuckers on here that say GSM is better and vice versa.

Imagine if Comcast and Verizon were the only broadband internet providers. If Verizon were to buy Comcast, that would cause a monopoly, but because they both exist, it gives the people a choice between one or the other.

    Make sense, my uneducated anon?

And when you get to the actual measurements section, you see the OLED out-performing the retina in every way except density.

its not designed for specific technologies yes, but GSM service versus CDMA service are two different goods, therefore its a monopoly.

However, once the 4G rollout is complete with T-Mo, Verizon and AT&T, that changes things. We could end up with AT&T and Verizon, because its all under the 4G guise, and like you said specifics dont matter (and in theory without looking at spec papers, phones should finally be able to jump ship between ATT and Verizon) so then it would be a non-issue. But right now its an issue, because your locked to whatever network carrier tech you buy.

    So yes, its a monopoly.

I honestly haven't seen the draw to get anything else. The Motorola W85 (current phone) at cost set me back $20. A replacement battery after 4 years was another $15.

It makes calls like a phone and it does useful things like not have any useful internet connectivity. This prevents me from wasting my life checking rss feeds and the like.

My job keeps me in front of a computer for about 6-7 hours daily, and my 4chan/flash game habit takes at least another 3.

The difference between GSM and CDMA is not as big as you make it. Additionally, they aren't permanent. Any wireless company can switch from one to the other, as these technologies are not specific to the carrier, they are only adopted by them.

They may even switch to a new technology altogether. These companies are not bound until doom. They are only business decisions. Verizon and AT&T have decided to incorporate LTE. Sprint is not sure which direction it wants to take yet. LTE phones will decide the future of these companies, yet it is not bound by GSM or CDMA.

If AT&T remains as the only GSM carrier in the United States, that does not mean they are the only wireless provider here. Verizon and Sprint will still be more than able to provide a similar service. It isn't a monopoly if both AT&T offer an iPhone for the same price, with the same service, and the same monthly fee.

In reality, the only major issues with the difference between CDMA and GSM is that most phones only support one type of technology. Most carriers ask for exclusive phones anyway.

So. Where is the monopoly? And are you sure you are using it correctly?

They're fine. Probably not as tactile as I'd like, but they're acceptable. With the custom ROM I have loaded I don't really need to use the QWERTY keypad since it has a finger-touchable on screen keyboard which works quite well. It's not a bad phone overall, although if I had my time again I'd probably buy an Android phone.

But this was $200AU from eBay nearly new so I can't complain.
