    93 KB Anon/Public FTP - Still online! Omoronovo !!GjnuZ6qHwju 03/01/11(Tue)11:48 No.16198767
My FTP server is still available - now online for over a week. Apologies for not posting the last few days, rebuilding my desktop and busy with work. But now I'm back to make sure people still know my server is up and running.

    IP: 46.4.74.41
    Port: 21, 900 or 4848
    User: Anonymous
    Pass: 4changboard

Please use passive/default mode for connecting where possible, but if you have trouble connecting try using Active or a different port to see if that helps.

Uploads can be placed in the /public directory. Please try to observe the current folder structure; it helps to keep things organised. FILE RESUMING IS ALLOWED. If your upload fails, simply tell your client to resume it and it should work.

    Structure:
    Anime: Anime series goes here.
    Books: ebook collections, including guides.
    Flash: .swf or .flv files.
Games: Repacks (archives) or .iso's of games. Patches are also suitable here.
Images and Wallpapers: As the name implies. Sexually explicit imagery should go in /porn, but topless women and the like (in hi-res), should go here.
    Linux Iso: Linux installation media.
Misc: Anything that fits no other category.
    Movies: Non-porn movies.
Music: Music. Try to upload only high quality (256+kbps lossy and any lossless preferred)
Porn: Pornography. Try to keep it as legal as possible.
    Software: software should go here.
    TV: Television shows.
    Windows ISO's: Windows installation media.

Please note that I am not responsible for the uploads placed here; as such, you should virus scan anything you download. Additionally, I provide this completely free of charge, so please don't put any content on there that's likely to jeapordise the availability of the server (so no cp. Seriously.)

As always, please try not to overdo it - the server has been upgraded to 1gbit now, but still try to keep your connections limited to less than 20mbit per person.

    Thanks, and enjoy.

Which service would you recommend/or which one do you use to create FTP servers?
Or do you use 2008's server rolls?
    >> Omoronovo !!GjnuZ6qHwju 03/01/11(Tue)12:24 No.16199177
    >>16199134

Any of those servers will really be suitable for FTP hosting. The disk configurations come, by default, as a mirrored raid-1 set, but you can easily change that through disk management to be a striped/merged set instead. Just make sure you have enough disk space and bandwidth - If my server was running on 100mbit flat out for a month, it'd use around 34TB of bandwidth - so that's something to bear in mind.

    >>16199177

The one exception would be if you enabled FTPS support. It adds significant overhead when the amount of connections increases, so beware of that.

I use Filezilla server rather than a built in role, simply because I prefer that, but there's no real reason why IIS-FTP wouldn't work just as well.

This is basic functionality of any ftp client. If you're downloading using a browser, stop it and get a proper ftp client.

Some file browsers (like Total Commander) have more advanced FTP ability than Explorer, though, so if you really don't want a full FTP client that'll do also.

No, but you can make the directory a symbolic link to somewhere else.

Stop filezilla server, then delete the logs folder. Open up an admin command prompt and type:

    mklink /D "C:\Program Files (x86)\Filezilla Server\Logs" "X:\Path_to_place_logs"

This assuming you're on 64-bit windows and have installed filezilla server to the default directory. If not, modify the first parameter as needed.

The only images on there that I put there are the ones in the /e621 folder, but those are just ripped from e621.net. If you'd like to see the images in advance, that's where you should go.
