    Anonymous is not a group, and it doesn't have goals. The very ideology of it is to be quite literally Anonymous. Any offshoot group of Anon (project chanolgy or whatever), does not represent the whole.

    Annonymous is like a big amorphous blob of a group, people come and go constantly, most of those people are normal internet users who have never hacked anything and never want to, some are political and try to get the group to stand for something, and some are just psychotic troublemakers who stalk 11 year old girls and vandalize things because they can.

    On Hacker News the assumption is that if you're not riding the EFF/FSF cock you're some kind of heathen monstrosity, so whenever someone does something Hackers News likes, they just assume it's for the same motives as the EFF/FSF people.
