Get a face wash, exfoliator and moisturiser. Don't use soap to wash your face. Don't wash your face more than once/twice a day. Exfoliate 2-3 times a week, and moisturise daily.

As for shaving, wash your face first. Warm your face up/shave in the shower to open pores. Pre-shave oil is optional. Shaving soap/cream lathered and applied with a brush is infinitely better than canned foam/gel. A double edged safety razor will give a closer shave and be cheaper than mach 3//quattro faggotry. 30-45 degree angle, you shouldn't have to use too much pressure if your razor is sharp. Stretch your skin, and shave with the grain first then across the grain. For ultimate closeness, finish against the grain. Rinse in cold water, and use an alum block to close your pores. Use an aftershave balm, not an alcohol based one.

    Hope that helps

Would moisturizing your face daily, cut down on the oils your skin produces?

Yes. I've recently got used to using no moisturiser after taking accutane a few years back and my skin is gradually adapting.

Can you recommend me some middle tier products you suggested that I can buy online.

    Not exactly

There are many different skin types, and not everyone should be using an exfoliating product. OP try out using a facial cleanser and moisturizer, and seriously ask a product lady to walk you through determining your skin type, it's too hard for me to try it here so find someone in an actual beauty product store like Aveda or a place that carries Dermatologica to actually talk to you about this, and start yourself off with JUST a cleanser and moisturizer, for skincare.

As for shaving, you can get a close shave without all the heat, it's just that the heat (either from the shower or a hot towel laid on your face for a short while) will open up your follicles and allow the hair to come out a little bit more than it normally would, resulting in a shave that lasts longer. As stated, shave with the grain, and then against it, and really look to see what direction the hair grows in, even along your lip it can grow in multiple directions. Also, never go over an area without cream, and try not to go over the same area again and again and again, try a different angle rather than going right at it

Also, buy a disposable razor before indulging in anything. You can still get a decent shave with one of those
