>>3727504 we're talking about fashion here. fashion has always struggled to be taken seriously, and you know what? rightfully so.
>>3727506 i've heard of Engels. i started reading Kant when i was 17 (didn't understand him in-depth, though). >And
I may not have been born a child prodigy, but I’m 15 too and do possess
all of those qualities in such abundance that even philosophy PHD
students at the university of oxford quiver in the shadow of my sheer
brilliance (and I’m being modest).
if thats true i'd like
to read some of your stuff. seriously. and don't be afraid that i'll try
to hit on you; my affection towards Ms Gevinson is rooted in her
physical appearance too ;) anyways, philosophical thoughts would not
have drawn in the attention of the fashion media scene. so thats her
advantage: having entered a field that constantly needs novelties to
keep the ball rolling. that and luck and her looks, lets not be naive
about it.
she may be a mediocre mind (i have doubts about that,
though), but the mediocrity i'm witnessing around me (and in the world
at large) is way worse than what she expresses. and i'm not surrounded
by inbred hillbillies. sure, many of her expressed thoughts ain't
surprisingly novel, but they seem to still be considered kinda
'underground' and mostly ignored by the US mainstream media (which
probably tells us more about the american society than about Tavi; i'm
judging from a long distance here). she seems to voice thoughts that
many of her readers consider relieving to see in writ, as if they don't
get talked about enough in the open. again, that might be more of an
indication of what environments her average reader is forced to live in.
this sounds quite critical, don't you think? but the thing is, i nevertheless like her. lets see how she evolves. |
