116 KB Male fashion makeover Anonymous 09/02/11(Fri)19:03 No.3710376
OK, I need a male fashion makeover. I didn't care much about fashion because I didn't had routine income to keep up with any causal fashion styles. Therefore I didn't gave a fuck about having any fashion sense of whatever But since my student loans will come in at around two weeks, I have an opportunity to make some outfits.

A few stores I will hit up after I get my loans are the following:
    -Hot Topic
    -Rugged Outfitters
    -A Nearby Theift Store
    -Wal-Mart
    -JCPenny

A few details about me: I wear glasses, my waist size is 28 inches and leg height is 30. Also, due to my short size I'm able to wear small sized shirts easily. My complete height is 5 feet and 8 inches.

I want to plan my shopping so I won't make any mistakes, so any advice would be helpful.

No, not really. Again I have no sense of fashion and generally I don't about it. I was actually interested in getting some outfits for myself. But I wanted to ask /fa/ for advice.

The 5 feet and 8 inches are the total height. The 28x30 inches is my waist and leg height respectively.

Ways to get ideas what to wear- just walk around in public places and see what you like about what other people are wearing. PAY A LOT OF ATTENTION to the small details, How tight the clothing fits, how much buildup is at the shins, how much buildup at the arms, howq long outwear should be, how much of the back pocket should be showing, etc.

The only thing you should buy from Wal Mart are socks, underwear, and T shirts. Anything else is of subpar quality, and fits like crap.

Never settle for less, if you go to a store and want a size that isn't there and you plan to buy one that is bigger/smaller, don't. Trust me, either you buy what you want or don't buy it at all.

Most importantly, you will be spending a lot of money. Keep in mind that price of clothing =/= fashion. If you have absolutely nothing to start off with, a basic outfit including a jacket will cost you at least $400.

    Replace the stores with
    -Banana Republic
    -Gap
    -Express
    -Nordstrom Rack
-Old Navy (occasional cheap basics worth getting)
    -Keep the thrift store

JCPenny might be okay, I don't remember haven't been in one since I was a youngin'

What about Guess? How good are their jeans?

Also, Target has very slim fitting clothes. Their polos and t-shirts are very nice for the price.

Are you suggesting Express doesn't have nice fitting clothes with some good designs for cheap price?

Look at OP's list of stores.

Express has some great fitting v necks and crew shirts. They sometimes carry some /fa/ jackets. Stay away from everything else.
