Anyway, quick question. I'm planning to mod the Buzz Bee Rapid Fire Tek to not only take clip darts without the shell, but the clip as well. Regarding the barrel setup, what do you suggest?

I've actually never seen any of the Buzzbee guns in person. How does the barrel interfere?

Go with airsoft if you want to do something like this. Idk but nerf shit is just way too underpowered to be any fun for someone over 12. I'm not talking about powerful enough to hurt but powerful enough to go further than spitting distance. Unless of course you're talking about modding it to use compressed air or something.

It loads shells. It's brilliant for kids, but I got gifted the Rapid Fire Tek which is a repeater shotgun. Fires as fast as you can load, but it takes shells and the range is 15 feet. The shells make it harder to reload in crossfire, since you have to find the dart AND the shell, it also reduces the air that pushes to the dart. Acts as an air restrictor too; the shells have a teeny hole for the air to push through.

Now I was intersted in attaching a PTEG pipe inside, coupler-style, and keeping the repeater system because that's AWESOME, but that means replacing the bolt/plunger. And probably modding it to fit clips, which is optional; I can always have it as a back-loading single-shot.

Nice video, though. But the new Vortex series isn't really received well because a) it has to be fired straight to get the most range and b) the whole range is alien compared to the N-Strike, since it can't take darts, nor is it even remotely similar in the internals.

Here's the difference; airsoft is much harder to get into financially, since a starter set costs about £150. That's a gun, some ammo and body protection. Nerf can get you started at about £15. That's a Maverick and a set of 36 darts. Also, it's faster paced. Airsoft is a waiting man's game; picking out sniping points and waiting on your enemy to make the slightest mistake and punish him for it with a massive bruise on the foot. Nerf is a run-and-gun game.

I enjoy both, but you can't compare. Airsoft is better played if you're the type to pick out your targets from half a mile away, but if you want to shoot them point-blank and get the satisfaction from doing so, plus the advantage of modding, Nerf all the way.

Also, nerf modding isn't just about taking a toy gun and making it better at shooting things. For me, more than half the fun is in the modding itself. Trying to figure out new ways to make it do it's thing better is fun.
