    Yeah, I got nothin'.
    >> Anonymous 08/12/08(Tue)12:40 No.2098
hahaha you bought that? how much was the final bid?
    >> Anonymous 08/12/08(Tue)12:43 No.2099
    >>2098
I bid $30 because I figured it wouldn't go any higher, and lo and behold no one else bid.

Someone else got the tacgnol though. I kinda wanted the pair.

Or rather, I figured it -would- go higher. ffff

This was also a gigantic pain in the ass to transport home.

I can imagine. Did you happen to wander into the "adult art" section of the auction?
    >> Anonymous 08/12/08(Tue)13:15 No.2112
    >>2107
Walked in, saw dracula penis going to auction and pictures of ugly fat tied up bitch, and walked right back out.

    Why?

    >>2112

ugly fat bitch tied up = fatography.

    >>2114

lol, the sign said they actually had good adult art this year. which makes me wonder about last year.

    >>2117
The adult art section is always fail. Simply because softcore and pin-ups sell for much higher prices in the general audiences gallery and people don't go to "Family Friendly" cons to buy American made smut. the only adult work that sells even remotely is the doujinshi in the dealer's room. That said, there were a few win pieces in the art show, none of which were in the adult section.
    >> Anonymous 08/12/08(Tue)14:06 No.2136
    >>2129

Agreed. I noticed that some artists put their pieces up for ridiculously high starting bids. I think it kind of defeats the purpose of an auction if the starting bid is 300 smackers.
    >> Anonymous 08/12/08(Tue)14:08 No.2137
All the best stuff that sold for tons had a starting bid of a dollar anyway.

Also, what the fuck is with all the prints in the art auctions? Why would I bid for anything if I could just buy it outside in the artist's alley for a tiny fraction of what the bid price is?
    >> Anonymous 08/12/08(Tue)14:12 No.2139
    >>2137
a lot of stuff is digitally made these days, so the best they can do is print a limited run of large format prints. Some of the sellers though *coughREMYcough* just print a new one at each con and sell it like it was new.

    >>2137

true that. i got the distinct impression that a large amount of the entered work was an "i can make it on my own" statement. i was going to go back to see if anybody bid on the...portly lass in bondage. it would be funny if nobody did, but hilarious if somebody wound up with them on accident.

I don't know, there were a few BBW fans in attendance, though I doubt even a fetishist would have taken those pictures home.
    >> Anonymous 08/12/08(Tue)17:36 No.2336
The guys who did that mirror were really cool. I was at the decal booth when whey were decal-ing it.
    >> Anonymous 08/12/08(Tue)17:50 No.2344
I saw the mirrors, one of the better things up there. Apparently moot bought one of the terrible DBZ pictures just because it was that terrible.

With a kind of confused grin plastered on my face, wondering how the fuck I could make it survive a four-hour car ride in packed conditions?

Does anyone know the dude who made it btw? They didn't give me the artist name or anything when they sold it to me.

Email the art show and tell them you want to get in touch with the artist of the piece. You'll have to either know the artist number, piece number, or the correct title of the piece though.

That's because he didn't do shit but buy someone else's vinyl longcat sticker(which was already copied off of someone else's drawing) and slap it onto a mirror. And you spent $30 on it.

at least he's not as bad as the saps who bought remy's "traced face with a different hairstyle (OMG dodge/burn is good technique)" for upwards of $100.

was that the picture of the girl with white hair in a black dress? pretty much a straight forward pose showing only the head and the shoulders?

Hey, it's a convention. I'm allowed to be a retard and spend money on things that would be cheaper elsewhere.

I mean, look at everyone who went to Otakon and didn't attend the jam project concert. Why spend $65 to spend three days in a building with a bunch of other cosplaying nerds when you can do it in a basement and post pictures online for free?
    >> Anonymous 08/14/08(Thu)02:57 No.3688
these people ripped off the otakon button design some 4chan mod made a few years ago
and are now selling it ripping off 4chan
    welcomes to death of 4chan
