Magic is Science.

Both have strict methods, both are to reproduce something you expect, something desirable and controllable to some extent. Both have variables and elements whose interactions between each other and reactive behavior are known by the user/s and as such put together in a certain order to obtain a certain result.

The whys (and sometimes the hows) are not always known to both but their procedures are systematic and aim for a predictable outcome. Both are recorded and structured for future repeats.

What ancient people thought to be magic is nowadays' most basic science.

So Magic is Science whose procedures are known and reproducible but whose innermost whys we have yet to learn.

Y'know, I'm not sure if it's because I was slightly younger, but I never developed the same dislike of the weird gimmicks that Transformers picked up along the line. I think I probably did prefer the older toys that looked more like real world vehicles and had metal bits, but I never had any trouble taking to the Pretenders/Micromastes/Headmasters whatever.
