85 KB Fox Abandons Saturday morning, replacing them with... Anonymous of College Park,MD 11/25/08(Tue)19:31 No.6770714
...infomercials. And returns two hours to it's affiliates, and they'll most likely show...infomercials!

    >Fox has announced that it is getting out of the Saturday morning cartoon business, completely.

    >4Kids, which had been programming Fox's Saturday morning line-up will cease at the end of December, as previously reported, and as a result, beginning in January, the network will scuttle its Saturday am kids fare in exchange for two-hours of network controlled infomercials, and two hours of local affiliate programming. The announcement from Fox puts a final nail in the coffin of speculation that the network was going to go at Saturday cartoons or kids' programming on its own. Fox has said that it will find space for its mandated 2 and 1/2 hours of Eductational/Instructional programming during the week.

    >The change comes as a result of Fox and 4Kids ending their previous agreement earlier than originally negotiated, on November 9th, rather than September, 2009. The deal between the two saw 4Kids programming Fox’s Saturday morning block under a time-buy agreement, according to Variety, at a cost of $20 million per year. The termination of the agreement between 4Kids and Fox came as a result of an out-of-court settlement after 4Kids sued Fox earlier this year, claiming that the network did not maintain a 90% clearance for its Saturday morning block of shows.

    >4Kids still programs The CW’s Saturday am block of shows, and will move some of its more popular shows to The CW.

    >Last October, The CW replaced the Kids WB programming block with 4 Kids.

You are now remembering all the shows that were on early Saturday morning Fox when you were a kid.

    Manually

I gave up on FOX a long time ago.

When the network that was responsible for giving me Power Rangers, Digimon, Godzilla, Big Guy, Beast Wars, etc, etc. Changed from airing cartoons six days a week to one, and then they sold all of there good programing for FoxBox, which continued the downward spiral. It then became 4kidsTV, which was by all means a pile of shit, that should have never been conceived in the first place.

    Fox disgust me.

Kids not having Saturday morning cartoons makes me sad, video games are not an acceptable substitute.

In fact, I'm starting to hate how video games seem to be replacing everything we had in our childhoods. Toys, cartoons, cartoon movies are all sucking more and video games have just been selling more and more instead.

Did you watch those shows? Did your kids watch those shows? Most importantly, did you buy the crap that they sold during commercials between those shows?

Then you are to blame, anonymous, for the death of Saturday Morning.

It's not that bad until you realize that 4kids has influenced your childhood.

Agree. But then again there's now whole channels dedicated to cartoons. I was just old enough to appreciate Cartoon Network when it came out. I couldn't imagine not having it.

    >Kids not having Saturday morning cartoons makes me sad, video games are not an acceptable substitute.

What's even more sad is that about 10% of kids don't have video games, cable, DVDs, computers, and only have tv as form of entertainment.

PBS is there for children's cartoons...if you're 10 and under.
