Do you know why Toonami was fucking awesome back when it started? Its because after a looong day at school, your 9 year old self hopped off the bus, turned on the TV and got to watch awesome shit the likes of which it had never seen before, hosted by motherfucking TOM. He was like the cool older brother you never had. And you did this, every day, like clockwork. To the point where you were devastated if you missed a day, even if you had seen the shows before.

The new Toonami is on at fucking midnight, once a week. They completely focused this on the older fans, which is great, but we've had to make due without it for years, and whoever cares has moved on to bigger and better things. I'm sure it will go well for the first couple airings, but once the nostalgia pull wears off, so will most of the viewers interest. And there will be no new fans to fill the hole left. They are doing nothing to expand the interest in anime to people who had never seen it before, which is what the original had done.

Its bound to fail. I'll be sad when it does, but not surprised.

Why couldn't Adult Swim dedicate the entire night to Toonami? I dunno what it's like anywhere else but for me it won't even start till 1 in the morning and it'll end at 4. They have THREE hours of Adult Swim before Toonami starts. Also it ending at 4 in the morning means I couldn't watch all of it even if I wanted to.

Though I can go without Cowboy Bebop and GiTS, I've seen them plenty. I don't really like Bleach either and I can't start watching FMA Brotherhood right in the middle of the series or wherever it's at. The only show that looks remotely interesting is Casshern Sins.

Here's what will happen.

First week, everyone will tune in and watch. Mass circlejerk over the NOSTALGIA LEL. They'll piss their pants over the re-runs and "new" shows.

Second week, we'll see a big decrease in viewers, people will start to lose interest and move onto their next internet fad.

From there, the ratings will continue to drop until they have barely any more viewers than they usually would at that time, they realise it's a waste and pull it.
