This could actually work in live-action, minus the shitty bat-symbol, if the grey parts were made from thick canvas-like material.
The way the cape connects to the costume is what makes it look so good, it'd look good in any medium.

I don't know what the black parts would be mate out of in live action, they definitely shouldn't be shiny, leather, rubber or armour.
Well, the boots and gloves could be armour, but a solid cowl looks awful and is usually paired with a built-in frown.

    >physically crippled when they literally have the technology to correct that issue.

This happens in most fictional settings in comics where bringing in religious figures, fantasy myths and magical beings is totally cool but state that diseases are cured or there are no official disabilities in the setting and suddenly you're offending someone and becomes unrealistic. I mean, I know DC and Marvel doesn't have balls but the fact that they can't even stand up to those people who literally can't shows how far they've gone down.

Partially agree, but there should a small bat or bird related theme for all of them. I'm not saying it needs to be an obvious neon sign that says the characters are part of the family but something to connect them should be there.

    Love this Spidey design.
The full body spider is a lot more interesting than just a chest symbol, which always looks pretty uninspired on Spidey.
The colours are nice, the lenses for eyes work well and the bare fingers and toes are unique and make sense for wall crawling.

Spidey's gloves and booties are canonically SUPER THING so it's like he's wearing nothing at all.
    NOTHING AT ALL!
    NOTHING AT ALL!
But in all honesty isn't the whole fingerprint thing an exaggerated half true ?
I mean Spidey's jumping around running around dirt and walls and stupid shit so there's a likelihood the few prints the cops would be able to find would be feasible.
Not to mention is Peter even on file?
There isn't some massive database with the world's fingerprints in it, they need to have taken them for a prior.....or atleast a school field trip.

    1) It's not like he never goes inside a building to do stuff or never lands on a window or anything.

    2) While they might not automatically have his prints on file, it would mean Peter could never get picked up for any sort of criminal infraction that would cause him to get booked (avoidable, true, but all it takes is a cop having a really bad day when Pete goes up on the sidewalk with his scooter or something... how does he even get around normally in the comics?), or to seek a license or profession that requires him to be fingerprinted (which is a number of them, some schools do it to teachers so hey, that's out).

Basically Peter would have to live a very "under the radar" civilian life all because some thickheaded designer thought that bare fingers would look cool on his costume.

    Yes they do.
And chick flicks are part of a system of oppression that objectifies women even as it markets to them, and it fucks up everyone in the process.
They tell women how they should act, how they should look (all rom-com chicks look the same. Fact.) what they should expect in a relationship, promotes rampant comsumption, etc.
They fuck up men too, because we're supposed to deal with the ridiculous expectations put forth in those movies. They set a standard for "normalcy" that's unrealistic and vapid.

What's more, you never hear women claiming "chick flicks" as their own. They're not going to alienate you for wanting to watch one, or act like you're some sort of anomaly.
And before you rush out with an exaggerated example of the one time you did feel alienated by a woman for liking 16 Candles or whatever, a solitary interpersonal attack by some asshole isn't the same as a system of social oppression. Dudes have to deal with a lot of shit (and it doesn't make the pain you experience any less real), but it's not anything close to what women have to deal with on a daily basis. You can't make an argument made up entirely of false equivalencies.

Oh, and you're just hearing about comics more often because you spend time on internet boards about comics discussion.

When I was 9, all of my instructors would swap horror stories about their tits/wrists getting snapped hard as fuck (some had huge welts/scars), and that I had to wear sports bras two sizes too small if I'd keep it up til around 16.

Coolest retro costume i've ever seen for a hero.

The fun part is that costumes of the golden age were inspired by circus performers, hence the underpants on the outside look. This was because they were seen as daring or exceptional people for their acts. However airplane pilots were just as much seen as the exceptional people and basing super hero costumes on their uniforms works just aswell.

Personally, I'd suggest getting ride of the chaps and making the trousers all brown (maybe keeping the yellow stripe) and adding a wifebeater underneath as opposed to a bare chest.
    Also dogtags and body hair.

I love all the little variants at the side, specially the quick change lumberjack one.
Optional sleeves and hood are a good idea, lots of variety in one simple costume.

Not to rag on this one in particular, it's just a problem some of these designs have in general, but some people think about what these characters would wear and then they just stop thinking once they've arrived at something they think looks good. That's how you get silly designs.

You have to keep thinking and go "Okay, how will this actually fare in action? Is it going to swing around and get in his way? Is he going to find it hard to move in?" Yeah they're comic characters and comic characters should look cool, but you don't want to start getting into the nineties and have capes five miles long and more free-floating armor plates than World of Warcraft.

Athlets, soldiers, parkour runners, extreme sports enthusiasts, people who protest for a good cause (that means like those risk their lives to bring down regimes, not people like Occupy).

However as someone said, the problem is that nowdays there is not the impact of real performers anymore because of most "awesome" actions now being shown through TV and the stories they are featured in are inspired by previous works and stories which are inspired by performers.

For example, seeing someone in a movie doing cool moves while shooting is the direct result of wild west shows, making gunslinging awe inspiring.

I feel like most times I see parkour videoes they go out of their way to either wear casual clothes that are clearly not the most efficient and just make it look good anyway or they run around in jogging pants and a wifebeater. I rarely ever see anyone really go for a streamlined costume. I imagine if they ever did it'd just be a cyclist's suit.

But Jubes is a williamsburg hipster.
Or rather, a West Coast hipster.
She's permanently in late adolescence. She's bound to be a trend-whore.

I am not sure if a cyclist's suit is really a good idea when you need to jump and roll and all the other stuff you do in parkour. Too much friction.

Well, thing is, it mostly depends on what you are practicing that day. If all you do are vaults or mounts and shit, you can afford a wifebeater. If you're doing drops and rolls, nope, especially if you've got a sensitive skin that gets all itchy when you drop on grass (like me). Mostly what you need for safety isn't padding, it's freedom of movement, and even the casual clothes you seem them wearing are pretty comfortable and allow a great range of movement. I've never tested a cyclist suit I'll say, but I don't know, they kind of look too constraining.

I hate designs like these because they all look really similar. Costumes for radically different heroes shouldn't have similar foundations.
This problem plagues the New 52 also.

It's just incredibly slow, mainly because its a one man project, and he puts way too much detail in every page.
#7 is supposed to be out soon though.

    SPIDERMAN FINGER AREN'T STICKY!!

It's some kind of biomagnetism, something to do with the strong force and the weak force , it's explained in some comics, but writers often forgot it.

    It's like geckos and Spiders.

Geckos and spiders have tiny little hairs that allow them to stick to walls. You know those hairs we saw on Pete's hands in the movie? Yeah. Those. They don't use the forces that hold atoms together, that's retarded.

    >Not to mention is Peter even on file?

Yes. He's been arrested and even in prison. Daredevil was his lawyer.

The "sticky" hairs affect the Van der Waals forces, like how gecko feet allow them to run up walls and windows.
    >> Anonymous 02/23/12(Thu)18:18 No.34550643
It's has to do with van der waals forces.

    >Working at Lewis & Clark College, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of California at Santa Barbara, and Stanford University, the interdisciplinary team:

    >* confirmed speculation that the gecko's amazing climbing ability depends on weak molecular attractive forces called van der Waals forces,

    ...

    >The team tested two competing hypotheses: one based on van der Waals force and a second on capillary (water-based) adhesion.

"Our results provide the first direct experimental verification that a short-range molecular attraction called van der Waals force is definitely what makes geckos stick," Autumn emphasizes.

    >Van der Waals forces, named after a Dutch physicist of the late 1800s, are weak electrodynamic forces that operate over very small distances but bond to nearly any material.

Starfire as a more insect-like alien (She's turned into a chrysalis before, guys)

Dig the accents on the feet and hands but I don't like the eyes. Too big and angled close together, and they tend too look better without the insectoid 'graphing' busying them up.
