I doubt that sincerely, as that would violate his Objectivist beliefs. When Ditko left Marvel because they didn't cater more to his viewpoints, literally every comics company were fighting each other to get him on board. Unfortunately for them, Ditko being the ardent Objectivist he was, believed that he should only do the bare minimum for his employers and save his best work for himself. Soon he ruined his entire career by building an infamous reputation for turning in garbage, until he had to take a job doing Transformer coloring books for Marvel, and that was only because someone at Marvel took pity on him.

Seriously, the guy burned down his own house, and I doubt he's changed his ways.

No, Ditko actually refuses to accept rights for Spider-Man, or to even be credited for it (they keep doing it none the less). That's the staunchness of his beliefs. I've read horror stories of people that have been to his studio/office only to find that he uses original spider-man comic art to repair his cutting board. He refuses to even sell them to make some kind of income.

You'd think that, but that's actually a myth. He left because of his viewpoints and Objectivism. During his tenure on Spider-Man he got into Rand pretty hard-core, which was slowly seeping into his work, alienating his core-audience of college protestors. Ditko soon found that Marvel wasn't conducive to his beliefs and he jumped ship, heading the Charlton, where he was free to ply his opinions freely until Charlton went under. When he finally did his own books, especially "Mr.A", they were nothing but diatribes about Objectivism.

No good ones. You only get bits of pieces of the drama sprinkled in books about the artists Stan Worked with, most of them now dead.

In the comic industry, you have two big bridges to burn, disrespecting Stan Lee burns both of them.

About 10 years after his death (assuming he'll even die,) you;ll get a book about the dirt on Stan Lee.

No, Stan Lee doesn't own anything he made for Marvel. It was work for hire.

However, there is a law in the states that despite contracts, families can regain rights to creations of a character 10 years after his/her death. (Superman's creators' families have done this and more or less won.)

Jack Kirby's family has the lawsuit all set up to regain the characters from Marvel. The problem is they don't have a claim to those characters as long as Lee is alive. But once Lee croaks, they'll probably file within the year.

Coincidentally, the judge said that Superman of today wasn't the same Superman that was sold to DC. Mainly because of reboots, and a very loose continuity.

If Kirby's family wins, all the characters he co-created might be taken from Marvel.
    This includes:
    Captain America
    Fantastic Four
    Henry Pym
    Spider-Man (believe it or not)
    Silver Surfer & Galactus
The team name of the Avengers
    The (original) X-Men

Good luck with that. You can probably find scans of it online, but until Ditko decides to work with a publisher again, you're shit out of luck.

Another killer for Ditko? Frank Miller, fresh off of Dark Knight Retruns, approached Ditko about doing a new Mr. A, with Miller doing the artwork and Ditko would have complete creative control of the story. Ditko turned him down.

It was probably added for bargaining leverage. So that they could give it up for something, and look more like they're compromising.

Stan Lee actually got Jack to do some sketched (and I think a page) to see how his Spider-Man looked. After that, he went to Ditko. The sketches of Kirby's Spider-Man can be seen in The Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus Vol 1.

Cap is one of the icons in the world of comics. He may have been propagandist wank material, but he turned out to be a great character. Joe Simon, you will be remembered. Now check out this sweet ass wheelie.

If Marvel has changed (which it has not- and if recent activity is any indicator its regressing) then they would come to a settlement with the golden age creators / heirs and not continue to drag their names threw the mud to retain stolen copyrights. Marvel has had 50+ years to fix this and they have refused to budge at any point.

Corporations do not give up things they own easily.

Making it out that Marvel is some sort of special example of this or the sole corporate entity that does this is laughable. Its rooted in shrewd business practice, not malice: You don't give up IPs without a fight, especially not lucrative ones.

yes, and it not forgivable in either instance.

Bakers point (and mine) is that Marvel stole from Joe Simon and Kirby, slandered and degrade them for years, this company (and its representatives) upon news of his death is going to release statements praising him for his contribution to the industry, that company in my opinion can go fuck themselves.

you can call them "shrewd " or "savvy" , you can argue every one does it, i do not care they stole from a man and proceeded to make billions off him, while he made nothing.

Repeating it and getting emotional won't make your allegations true.

People get mangled up when they enter the business world. The game is brutal, but they chose to play, and you expect sympathy and reparations from the winners?

    Wow.

The problem with this is that what he's saying is the cold hard truth about business. So technically it doesn't have to be repeated since it plays itself out in businesses around the world.

I remember reading this one story.
I can't remember if it was here or on /cgl/. Also it was a while back, so excuse me if I get some details wrong.
But there's this guy. One of his co workers or classmates or something is this super buff guy who knows that he's into comics.
One day buff guy asks him where he can get/how he can make a Captain America costume.
Guy helps him out. Finds out later the guy loved comics as a kid, but his parents discouraged it. His little brother liked them, too and Cap was his fave. Also his little brother gets bullied on a daily basis. So, he dresses up as Cap, waits until his brother and his bullies are meandering along and BAM! CAPTAIN AMERICA ALL UP IN THERE. Savin' a kid.

If someone knows the more accurate version of this story, then please tell it.

A man who created a character that can inspire something like that must have been pretty great.

I thought every fucking documentary on people made this abundantly clear. Almost ALWAYS someone (or more often than not, multiple people) get fucked up the ass by either business partners, policy, or just plain bad luck.

Now you know why I pirate basically everything I can. Corporations aren't worth supporting as the legal and economic systems in place condone abusive and duplicitous actions carried out for a cheap buck.

Its a laugh productions, is an studio that does all the sitcoms of disney channel and original movies, they are openly eugenic propaganda, did you see how cartoon network was against bulling last month? those fuckers encourage it, among other things.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pU3wjvo6Go

But if you pirate the things you actually like you are hurting what you like, the only morally correct case when you could own an illegal copy of something, its if that something was not meant to be sold were you live, or is impossibly to get ti otherwise.
