The child prostitution issue is a bit of a bummer, but otherwise you should have a great time.

    There's fun issues like

describes and there's the occasional serious issue or short storyline. IMO the serious stuff tends to be a little preachy. I didn't mind it that much but it might put you off at first.
It's still a very enjoyable read overall though.

It's without doubt my favourite series and the best comic I've read. It's worth pacing yourself and enjoying it, don't fly through the whole thing in a weekend just because you can.

It's okay, but there are parts where Warren Ellis gets too high on himself. You know, "Read my fucking scripture!" and stuff.

Plus the issue where the 20th-century people wake up in the future is really egotistical, like saying "You people can't handle the future that *I*, Warren Ellis have envisioned, it would leave you a shambling wreck."

I'm not saying it's bad, I just mean there are elements of pretension that turned me off.

To be fair I don't think anyone from now COULD handle the transmet world. It's pretty fucking frightening.

That's not really the point. He goes so goddamn over-the-top with these people not even attempting to function in society that he basically says he, Warren Ellis, is the only one who can stomach the coming world.

It's not intentional, but it's there. He's grown out of that phase but he was dead smack in the middle of it for Transmet.

I wouldn't mentally break down, at least not immediately.

I'd order the best genetic upgrade pack and nano-immunities that my savings could afford then probably go live on Spider's mountain (or another mountain) while I hunt badgers for food and live forever.

We clearly haven't read the same issue.

Weren't the people from the cryogenic clinics already mentaly instable?
