Dear /co/,I am an aspiring writer (no, I'm not pretending to be the picture) and I have a question. In ATBG, we mostly follow Ginger in what is presented as a slice-of-life teen drama concerning her growing up.However, each episode cuts to Ginger's brother, Carl, who delves into demographic ten year old gross out segments. Truth be told, I don't mind these segments, but they feel non-sequiter a lot of the times with the Ginger plotlines.Do you think any series can pull this off? Not simply switching between characters, but switching tones and demographics in just a heartbeat.TL;DR: Can you accept a series with boy and girl parts? Goddamn, these character designs are horrendous.
Shut up.
>Can you accept a series with boy and girl parts? Oh lawd
I think it can work, when both parts are executed well. The problem with ATBG, as has been mentioned before, was that the character designs were unappealing to point of actually driving potential viewers away.Seriously, nobody wants to watch an ugly cartoon, exceptions like Rugrats notwithstanding.
>>30571621No one likes you, spergy.>>30571576Truth be told, I am of the same opinion, although sometimes you do see them interract and the double play makes sense. But, as you have noticed, those episodes are rare. I think they were shooting for a show you could could watch with your younger siblings, but again, it's poorly executed.
>Can you accept a series with boy and girl parts?
Plot A: Ginger having her first periodPlot B: Carl being platonically attracted to a 90 year old woman
>>Can you accept a series with boy and girl parts?Mmmmaybe...
Why do demographics matter, why can't people just write good plots?
>>30571990This.
It could possibly be done. But ATBG really did it horribly. Most shows for those age groups tend to have a little something for everyone though, simply by having a varied lead cast consisting of both boys and girls. The problem with ATBG was that there was no connection between Carl's stories and Ginger's, and the show was supposedly about Ginger so Carl's plots were pretty much a waste of time. It was pretty much trying to be the original show and the spinoff all in one.
Stu pickles thread?Stu Pickles Thread.
>Dear /co/, I am an aspiring writerGinger was an aspiring writer?>(no, I'm not pretending to be the picture)Oh, ok. Carry on.
>>30571990Indeed.Good pacing and proper use of background character and your good.About race...Try to write the character not as you would think someone from that ethnicity would act but how conditions around them affect them. By doing the former you feed into stereotypes. That is all
