    >mfw I see a black person who isn't ripped

If you're black and you're not swole, you just look like a bitch because of how many black people there are that ARE ripped.

Neither do I. It's just... I don't know. I feel like /co/ is actually the most hateful board. THE most hateful. And that the "/co/ is love" guys are either in denial or intentionally trolling.

He's only the Spider-man of a barren hell-verse. I hope Ultimate Reed returns soon to finish the job that Ultimates 3 began.

You've obviously never been on /adv9k/. There's a point when misogyny stops being funny. /adv/ has crossed that line.

the /co/ is love business is from the days when /co/ was an isolated board for the most part. /co/mrades were very insular.

but even now, /co/ is far from the most hateful board. it's like you don't even know /v/ exists or something.
    >> Anonymous 08/04/11(Thu)07:20 No.28371625
I frequent this board and /v/. /co/ is a long way from being hateful.

I go to /v/ and say I like a game and there will be 10 people calling me a faggot for liking a game.

I can't recall the last time that happened to me on /co/.

    >>28371600
Okay, right, I think I try to forget about /v/ sometimes.

I guess it's just that I browse /co/ more than any other board and I feel very little if any love from it most of the time. Especially now, when apparently imaginary black people shouldn't be allowed to exist.

It's less about him being black, it's about him supposedly being black for PC reasons. /co/ hates PC.

Except they love JL John Stewart even though it's a fucking fact that he was only on the show because they needed a black guy.

Good sir, you have probably never been to /a/.

I wake up with a scowl on my face everyday because of /a/. I rarely go there anymore because your opinions < my opinions, but I'm pretty sure it's still the same. But I'm going to give them slack because KAWAII UGGUUU ;) <3 ~~~ is really unbearable at times.

Yeah. I have no issues with a character being a different race. I just HATE when a character is a different race and the company goes, "You'll never believe this shit! We got a black guy!"
Then "We're gonna talk about Kwanza!" (even though I think around 10% of black people give a shit about Kwanza)
Then "We're gonna have him beat up a racist redneck or similar character that makes him feel marginalized, and then turns out to be evil!"

    >>28371686
I hate that too. I'm just saying maybe we should wait to see if the book makes a big deal about Miles' ethnic background before we make a judgment.

Also, again, you know you love John Stewart even though it's been admitted that he was on the show solely because he was black.

    >"You're never gonna believe this! We got a black guy!"
Happens, but that's because y'know, the big two have been REALLY SLOW at diversifying. If they had started earlier and stuck with it, they probably wouldn't be OH MY GOD WE'RE MAKING OUR NEW YORK SOMEHOW LESS WHITE more often.

    >Kwanzaa
Bullshit, they don't even cover fucking Kwanzaa in Milestone comics. There has been almost like never a Kwanzaa Komic Special anything, ever.

    >"We're gonna have him beat up a redneck or etc."
This does happen, but comics writers are by and large 40 year old white dudes from the suburbs with black acquaintances at best. They're bad at this.

Long story short, everybody read Milestone comics, that shit was the best for comics that weren't white as hell.

That said, it's silly that one of the best-handled black characters in comics history, the Falcon, is also one of the oldest black superheroes.

Like, yeah, he's black, but it's never been his whole identity. He's always been a hero who was black, not a black guy who was a hero.

I wasn't just talking about comics. Especially about the Kwanza thing.
    >> Anonymous 08/04/11(Thu)07:35 No.28371797
    >>28371747
And so are shittons of other black heroes.

I think there's just an assumption by a lot of comics readers that the vast majority of black characters in comics have been defined solely by their race, and not by their character in general, when there's a lot less of those than there are dudes who just happen to be black. They just don't get any fucking screen time, and then they get killed off in crossover events, making the problem worse.

It's all about circumstance and where they're from that determines how much the character is connected to race and race issues. A black dude from Detroit is going to tend to be a lot different than a black dude from Maine. There's no 'one kind' of black.
