>when John's reaction to Rose's suicide is "Herp at least there'll be a copy in the new session derp"?
See,
the way John reacted like this, and also exactly like this with Dave,
pretty much convinces me that he thinks of the two exactly the same.
Which is to say, best friends.
Honestly I think that's better. It
just makes sense that John is just best friends with the other three
equally. That's how it has always been, that's why John interacting with
any of the other human kids have always been the best.
It's
like, with the birthdays. John has treated all three of his friends
exactly the same. He sent them all a letter which strikes them
personally, as well as a present that affected each of their lives.
Nothing less and frankly nothing more of any of them. And they all
respond in exactly the same way. Which is to say, with exactly the same
gift.
They've always been friends that adding romance has always
struck me as completely unnecessary. Almost like the only reason any of
them would consider it is if Karkat threw a half-assed shipping chart at
them, and even then they don't take it seriously.
Basically,
John/any of the other kids has never made sense to me. He's too much of a
friend to each of them equally to love any of them more than the other.
Like, the glue keeping them all together. |
