    Won't happen.
    One of these will however:

    1. Sales drop sharp enough that they'll do A 'super mega extravaganza' of the return of Human Torch!

    2. A new FF movie will launch and they better get the family together so they can encourage movie goers to grab a copy of the fantastic comic!

    3. A big event will occur and they'll hype it up with the 'return of a fallen hero' and use him to 'surprise' everybody! Also to make sure people will buy half way threw there event. (Civil war with "Thor")

If we are lucky he'll stay dead for five years tops. Realistically He'll be back in less than three years.

You have to hand it to Hickman, he at least attempts to have consistency in his book with everything else in the Marvel U.

Kid Annihilus and Doom having his intellect reduced might have gone unnoticed to others but he at least acknowledges it.

I just have one particular bug about all of this: When did Richards get the Cosmic Rod? Last time I check Blastaar had that thing in Nova.

It's hard not too. When you trivialize death so much for the hope of sales it makes the story a joke. When I see a world where just about every one has died and came back AT LEAST once, it just makes it hard to really feel for them. And half of those death(or more) had a body to 'confirm' they were dead and not just dodging it. When they killed Steve Rogers and hyped it to the press I knew he be back before the decades end. And I hated that I was right. And I'm going to hate it when Johnny's back before 2015.

Nope, the Cosmic Rod is that thing Annihilus straps to his chest to gets his powers.

Blastaar took it in the Nova books after seizing Annihilus territories in space.
But somehow this thing reappears in the FF to be stolen by Annihilus bugs again.

I guess I need to define that, but point taken.
I just seems Characters go threw tragic events like death and the 'poof' it's all better. Even outside of death. Take Civil War in short Tony did some crazy nightmare stuff that should have left him near unacceptable by most and in about two years (what is that in comic time six months?) the trio is together again. Bet money Steve will be Captain America again by the Avengers movie. Yes I'm aware Tony went threw alot of hoops to get there but still, every thing has to be as it was from years ago.
    >As long as its well presented and well written what the matter.
It feels repetitive. At least to me. Like others have posted it just seems there are a large amount of ways to bring him back by comparing it to how others were. Trust me I'll respect Marvel if they keep him dead longer than 5 years.

Kind of weird that Spider-man is more busted up over the death of the wife of one of the people who hates him the most (who also hated him, too), than he is over the death of one of his closest friends. He seems to be taking it pretty much in stride there.

An upcoming issue of ASM will deal with this, apparently. You'll probably see things from his perspective too.

Also, the thing is, this is a situation in which there's no way for him to lay the blame on himself.

    >Also what comics do you read?

I'm up to date with all the modern Cosmic Marvel. Other than that I read many 80's comics I didn't get a chance to read young. Stuff like Green Lanter, Silver Surfer, Daredevil with Blackheart's intro and story...yeah that was weird. Also DC vertigo.

I've tired picking up core books (like Spider-man's, new ways to die. Eddie Brock has gone threw a amazing amount in the last 5+years) But loose interest fast, epically if a cross over event shows up.

Perhaps because he feels in part responsible for one of the deaths. Or because he's putting on stoic airs for Franklin's sake. Did you ever have a pet or something die when you were little, and your parents seemed really calm?

When you get right down to it Spider-man is kind of selfish, it doesn't effect him as much because he can't blame himself for it?

The guy couldn't even show up to the funeral to one of his best friends

He should have been one of the first ones there

Spider-man was there when Captain Marvel died but apparently this wasn't worth his time?

It makes perfect sense. It doesn't mean he's less sad about the death. It just means it doesn't haunt him at night in the same way.

    >The guy couldn't even show up to the funeral to one of his best friends
    >He should have been one of the first ones there
It's entirely possible he's off-panel. He could have been there first, paid his respects to the bereaved, and is now standing off to the side of the room.

    >The newest incarnation of the Vision is a fusion of the old Vision's operating systems and the armor of adventurer Iron Lad, a teenage version of Kang the Conqueror who arrives in the present. Through this merger, Iron Lad is able to access plans the Vision had created in the event of the Avengers' defeat. He uses these plans to assemble a new team of "Young Avengers". When Iron Lad is forced to remove his armor to stop Kang the Conqueror from tracking him, the Vision's operating system causes the armor to become a sentient being.

This is my 2 cents on the entire ordeal.

These whole death/revived in no time flat can still have effects on people who don't even read comics. When the character dies, the writer gets to explore the idea of him being gone. Characters are allowed to be more openly emotional, we revisit back stories and how strongly affected the lives of his teammates through old anecdotes. You realize how strong these connections get without the knowledge of prior adventures when you find out how passionate people get when they exact revenge/bring them back. For old readers, we just brush it off if we didn't like how it happened and thank god they're coming back within our lifetimes usually.

I read Johnny's death in a storytime on /co/ and when I saw the new issue at the same LCS I went to years ago, I didn't buy it because university has been drying up my wallet and I know he's going to come back in no time flat. Am I gonna buy his come-back? Hell fucking yeah because it's totally going to be Galactus eating a star and Johnny exploding out of his stomach in the largest FLAME ON he's ever done or something

Admittedly Doom has always been pushed as an "honorable villain", and the Joker has been reduced to a baby-soup cooking caricature of what a 12-yr old thinks a villain is.......but it's still in poor taste.

I'm inclined to agree. The Annihilation Wave seems to be some sort of hive mind zerg army, and it will always need an Annihilus to lead it. If one dies, another one is born.

Kid Annihilus is probably the fully genetic copy/spawn of the original, and might have inherited his "memories". But being raised by hordes of blood thirsty sycophantic space bugs defeats the whole nurture vs nature argument anyway.

Is it that I hate the whole family dynamic, with the kids and all? I mean, I fucking love Ben Grimm AND Doctor Doom, but like, fuck.

    Because he's a villain and reed's a hero.

Doom prevailed where Reed failed, so what does Doom wants as a "thank you"? To be the godfather of his daughter, just to smear some shit on Reed's face.

And why do they allow Doom at the funeral? Because they're good people. They're heroes. And Doom didn't have anything to do with Johnny's death.

    Simple as that.

    doom isn't a villain, he's an idealist.
He sees himself as an hero and a savior. What he does he does for the sake of the rest of the world, not for his own gain.
In a twisted and egotistical way to be sure, but his intentions are good.

So even if he disagrees with richards and tries to kill him to further his plans he still respects him.
And he sees great potential in Valeria.
What better way to show it up to richards than to convert his daughter to his ideals?

I think that part of the problem is that there are only a couple of artists at Marvel and DC that can draw children convincingly at all, let alone kids at various ages.
So it's just easier to have them stuck at a certain age that they feel comfortable drawing them.
Pic related to badly drawn youngsters.

The machine was based off of Doom's design, Reed only knew how to change the coordinates from hell to heaven.
That and JackKirby/God wiped out the machine and said he was going to make it so no one could successfully rebuild it and fuck over the cosmos.

That said, it'll end up being like Marvel: The End "We swear this is canon!" and then a year later "Lol j/k."

Good point for the first 2/3 of the post but I'd go farther than your conclusion: Nova hangs out at the mid-to-high Herald level. The fact that he's able to engage Full Powered Silver Surfer on his own terms and not lose in a couple panels testifies to that.

I mean, the Surfer he was fighting (if it's the time I'm thinking of) was the one who'd won his way back into Galactus' good graces after (miraculously, granted) taking out Tenebrous and Aegis shortly after they'd murderized the Fallen One.

    > Doom having his intellect reduced

Ugh. The only thing keeping me from raging is that such can easily be changed or reversed, but most writers seem scared to deal with continuity and so forth. I give Hickman credit fromtrying to deal with the continuity. I wish (and hope) he addresses Dr. Doomer, the purple super Dr. Doom in some fashion. It would be interesting if all this was part of some plan being orchestrted by that Doom. When the council of Reeds was created, I was hooping it was all a ruse by Doom to get rid of his alternate counterparts in other universes and making Reed do his work while amassing all the Reeds in different universes so they could all be destroyed in one shot leaving himself to rule over multiple universes without having to worry about each respective universes Doom or Reed when he came to take over.
