idea for the end of the last episode of the Patakis
Helga is
feeling down. She just finished a date with a guy that seemed perfect,
but she just couldn't seem to get into him. She walks the streets to
clear her mind, wearing the pink dress that she had picked out for the
date, and finally decides to sit down on a stoop. "Why does this keep
happening?" she says to herself. "Why is it that every relationship I
decide to start ends like this! In fact, the only relationship that ever
felt right was-" She stops, slapping herself in the face to clear her
mind. "No. He's gone. Get a hold of yourself Pataki, he's not coming
back." As she talks to herself, a taxi pulls up to the stoop she's
sitting on. The legs of a man are seen exiting the backseat of the
vehicle.
"Oh, who am I kidding." Helga says. "I'll never be able
to forget him, with his kind words, and his beautiful football shaped
head!" Helga stand up from the stoop twirling around and talking to
herself. "I just have to admit to myself that for the rest of my life,
I'm going to be madly, helplessly, head-over-heels-in love with-"
Suddenly she collides with someone knocking her to the floor and filing
off her cap to reveal her pink bow. "HEY!" she yells. "Watch where
you're going-" We are shown the hand of the other victim of the
collision, who has been similarly thrown down, reaching to grab
something he lost, a familiar blue hat. As he places it back upon his
head, we are shown the face of a teenaged Arnold, back at last from the
jungle. "Hey Helga." Arnold says, strecthing out his hand to help her
up. As Helga reaches out to accept Arnold's help, the camera zooms out
to show that the stoop she had decided to rest on was in fact the stoop
of the old boarding house. The screen goes to black, and the final line
of the series is heard Hey Arnold |
