I never trust movie reviews. Half the time, the movies they say are complete shit, I love, and the movie they say are fantastic, I hate. I'm reserving judgment until I, you know, see it for myself.

I like the review that thinks War Machine and the Governement where bad guys.

But I still want to see it.

The one think i hate about all these negative reviews is that they dont consider the bigger picture. There are a few who complain that Nick comes outa nowhere and is just tacked on and that the Cap and Thor references are plot points with no conclusion.

If there is a scene where RDJ is in even the slightest bit of undress, I will get my money's worth.

I'm not surprised.

Every review I've seen seems to be by people who have absolutely no idea what comics are like. The few I've seen that came from comics-related sources have loved the movie and said it felt like Iron Man comics on the screen.

Every reviewer complaining that there was too much going on doesn't understand that the movie is 2/3 the life of Tony Stark (Tony never has 5 billion things on his plate at once, right?), and 1/3 set-up for the avengers movie.

Secondly: Sequels are almost always inferior to the original, and are commonly compared to the original as though the original was intended to be a base of comparison. To make a truly fair review the movie must be taken as a stand alone product. Almost every reviewer ever makes the mistake of going in the theater all jived up from the first film and expects it to pick up with that same amount of energy. Which even if the movie is just as good as the first is preposterous.

Off to see it tomorrow. I didn't expect it to be particularly mindblowing, and I don't care that much. It has RDJ and men in robot suits kicking each other around, which should mean it's quite fun at the very least. And 81% on Rotten Tomatoes? That's really quite good, especially for a sequel to a comics adaptation. Tbh, I'd expected reviews to be less positive, since sequels are nearly always worse, and critics are not going to be so wowed by the Iron Man films' strong points after they've already seen them in the first film.
