Would you read a comic with boring uninteresting characters who have no interesting interior lives?Think Leopold Bloom from Ulysses, only without an interesting interior monologue.I would. Only because I'm incapable of enjoying anything and I like the post-modern value though.
I've read at least one book in every tier but Mid.Anyway I haven't read Ulysses because I've heard it's a slog, but maybe American Splendor fits what you want?
>>comics not litas a 15-year-longcomicfag I have to bite the bullet and agree with this, but I'm just saying inb4 shitstorm
>>16337026Pic leaves bad taste in mouth.
>>16337152>>16337125Sage does nothing.
I've read a number of books from each tier.Fuck yes.
>>16337212
>>16337326Sage does nothing.
>>16337250I've read them all. And I'm not impressed with myself. You're only good if you've read The Iliad and The Odyssey in the ancient Greek, etc.
ITT: It's /v/ today! Let's post tier pics!
>>16337534umm...hate to tell you bro, but /co/ invented tier lists.
>>16337212>>16337394It allows you to post without bumping. Or do you just regurgitate things you hear instead of reading the FAQ?
>>16337732I know what it "does" but it only actually does anything when the thread is at like 300 posts you fucking idiot.Ass burger eater. Sage does nothing.
>>16337904Well yeah when you HAVE to bump the thread to say sage does nothing it does nothing. I feel bad for OP
I'm not sure if it's a better troll to have Lord of the Rings in High tier or if they had put it in Entry level.
Man, Will Eisner would have to disagree with the OP.And picture books not being literature? Fuck you.
>>16338054You do realize literature is derived from "littera" which means letter.Which means it can't be a picture.
>>16337026holy fuck, that imageso much troll
James Joyce's letters invalidate anything else he may have written.WHERE DOES STARSHIP TROOPERS FIT IN
Whoever said Iliad is only high has never read it in Greek.
>Implying Popup books are anything but God TeirOh you!
>Slaughterhouse 5 in low tier.I HAVE BEEN TROLLED HARD.
>Entry Level>1984EXCUSE ME WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING
Saying comics can't be literature is like saying films can't be art.
Don Quixote was surprisingly shitty. I had a really fantastic professor though.
>Implying popup books don't say more about human society and nature than James Joyce.
ITT: elitist scum trolls /co/ by abusing their inferiority complexan act matched in difficulty by such mighty feats as eating a bagel and breathing
>>16338459also>Low Tier, Oliver Twist>Entry Level, Clockwork Orange>Mid Tier, Great ExpectationsFucking 10/10Eat shit and die
>You do realize literature is derived from "littera" which means letter. And I bet you think e.e. cummings isn't poetry, or abstract art isn't art.
I don't see Any Douglas Adams in god-tier. Why you do this?
>Dr. Faustus is High tier>Goethe's Faust doesn't appearYO
>LoTR, Iliad and Oddysey not in God TierWHAT ARE YOU DOING
>Lord of the Rings in high tierMy face.
>american psycho>entry levelThat's low-tier at the very least
>>16338482I read a fucking awesome Don Quixote comic once
>mid tier in generalwhy would you even post this
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man has to be the most overrated book in existence. Dubliners is great, Ulysses is pure genius, but Portrait consistently makes these lists (I guess because it's the 'accessible' Ulysses) and it's really quite a mediocre book for all that it has the odd great passage.
>>No Fydor Dostoevsky in ANY tierOh, come the FUCK on!I'll admit, he can get boring, but YOU CANNOT DENY HIS GREATNESS.
I don't believe whoever made the list is a troll, I believe they're simply a horrible human being. Putting the Divine Comedy up there with Henry V? Blasphemy!
>>16337026>Any of Shakespeare's work in Entry tier
>No A Confederacy of Dunces>Divina Commedia God TierI mean, C'MON!
>Odyssey>High tierYeeaaah... I'm okay with this.BUT WAIT>Comics not lit tierHnnnnng..... it depends. Any ongoings I wouldn't consider, but limited series can turn out as spectacular. The name of it escapes me, but what was that amazing Silver Surfer comic that was done a little bit ago? I can't believe I forgot the name, but it was one of the best things I've ever read. I actually shed a tear.
Also, I would read it, OP.I've actually thought about writing something like that, but it's hard to imagine anyone liking it....
This is used to troll /lit/ isn't it?
>>16337026Anyone pretentious enough to construct this arbitrary list but without the dedication to capitalize it properly is kidding themselves harder than the rest of the staff of the bookstore he works part time at.And putting Marlowe and Mallory that far up while refusing to translate French titles (but translating Russian titles) while at the same time making sure no American authors are high on the list, stinks like a grad student's shoulder bag.You remind me of all the people I've met who used their intelligence to be snobbish for the sake of snobbery and it's going to limit your understanding of the world for the rest of your life.
>>16338835Silver Surfer Requiem.
>divine comedy >god tierlol no.
>>16338935Agreed.Also...no one likes the histories, stop trolling.
The Asspain! It's over 9000!
>>16338960Dante's work is historically significant for its vernacular nature, popularity and effect on religion. It is not, however, really good art."HEY, LOOK, THAT GUY I HATE IS IN HELL! AND SO IS THAT OTHER GUY, EVEN THOUGH HE'S NOT DEAD YET! THEY MUST REALLY SUCK, HUH?!"
>>16338584Yeah, that's the only part that made me really rage.
>>16337026I like how this is all pretentious required reading shit and all the pop culture is shit all over, except LotR because the faggot who made the list actually likes it
>>16339034I don't think you speak Italian or that you've ever read a good translation. The Inferno alone is god tier. The other two are great too though.
>>16339130I don't think you're not pretentious.
>>16337026>No Sartre.
>>16339128Hi, welcome to 4chan.
>>16339217:)
>>16339244You know, I'd like that copypasta better if it wasn't so clearly just a form letter with 4chan's name on it.
I've read every single book on that list and enjoy quite a few of the low tier listings more then those higher.Also. I, CLAUDIUS IS NOT ON THAT LIST, FUCK YOU!
Where's the Cormac McCarthy, motherfucker?
>Canterbury Tales high tierWow, its not even trying to hide the fact that its trolling.
Also, No Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas? Not even in Entry tier? For shame.
>>16339363Of course not - the person who compiled the list wouldn't dream of liking a work the author lived long enough to see filmed, and enjoyed in that format.
>Harry Potter>Not-lit
>>16339448And there's no Nabokov, because heaven forbid an American citizen create great literature.
>>16339507It isn't. Why are you frustrated though?
>>16339448>the person who compiled the list wouldn't dream of liking a work the author lived long enough to see filmed, and enjoyed in that format. That's amusing considering there's Shakespeare on that list. and I, Claudius was a play long before it was an enjoyable movie. Not to mention the fact that William Gibson is still alive...
>>16339568Because literature, if you look the fucking word up instead of using the most exclusive, snooty definition you can think of, doesn't specify "Well, it's not literature if you don't think it's for smart people."
>>16339652He means that the author saw filmed. And nobody has enjoyed film adaptations of William Gibson works. Even his teleplays aren't too good.
>>16339553>Because heaven forbid an American citizen create great literature.Tell me about it. Ambrose Bierce stands mightily indeed.
>>16339729>And nobody has enjoyed film adaptations of William Gibson worksYou've met everyone on the planet? Man, you must be tired.
>A Clockwork Orange>Entry level10/10
>>16339778Dude, are you standing up for Johnny Mnemonic?
>>16339787If you think Clockwork is annything but entry level then you need to read more books. And not just books that spawned films like Fight Club or Lord of the Rings.
>>16339833Funny you should mention Lord of the Rings, considering how high that is on the list.
>>16337987i was just thinking that
>>16339801"I want...ROOM SERVICE!"That's a fantastic line.
>>16339801Meh, but I liked New Rose Hotel.
>No HugoBullshit list is bullshit.
>>16339833If it doesn't have a movie then it obviously isn't a good enough story.
And now, Pokemon variants of the classics
>>16339740>Ambrose BierceOne of the greatest 18th century trolls to have ever lived.>Conservative, n. A statesman who is enamored of existing evils, as distinguished from the Liberal, who wishes to replace them with others.
>>16340064>>16340113>>16340176>>16340205>>16340243AHAHAHAHAH>>16340248I dont get it
>>16340290

there was a running gag in the old canadian sitcom Radio Active, where the character George was obsessed with a comic exactly like the OP describes: the adventures of Normal Man, who drove around in is beige 4-door sedan doing nothing at all. I don't think it quite counts as he still managed to defeat supervillains through his non-action.image slightly related.
