Just read volume 1. It was pretty fucking hilarious. What does /co/ think of this/the upcoming adaptation?

    The movie looks awesome.

Michael Cera looks hilarious, as usual.

cera is probably the best choice for scott, or any role, for that matter. he's surpassed labeouf in terms of being a blank slate anyone could project a character onto.
    >> Anonymous 03/29/10(Mon)12:56 No.15584263
On the one hand: Everything in this movie that isn't Michael Cera.
    On the other: Michael Cera.

They almost cancel each other out, so it might be watchable.
    >> Anonymous 03/29/10(Mon)12:57 No.15584272
I was REALLY lukewarm about the prospects of the movie when I first heard about it, but it looks like they just might do it justice.
    >> Anonymous 03/29/10(Mon)12:57 No.15584274
Micahel Cera deserves more credit than he gets. He's really funny, but gets too many shit roles.

It looks great, but I'm not that thrilled with the casting of two characters. Michael Cera aside, I think they could have had Emma Stone as an excellent Kim Pine.

I saw the trailer for the movie, thought it looked awesome, then went and read volume one. It was kind of slow and difficult to really be enthused about. I'm going to read volume 2 in hopes of it being better, since things are starting to get underway.

I'm pumped out too. Shit, Cera may even do a good job, even though most of the parts they showed in the trailer play to his awkward strenghts. I want to see how the Patel fight goes before emmiting a judgement, since I can't imagine Cera singing. But if he can pull that scene off, it's going to be an allright flick.

Cera's got more comedic talent than he gets allowed to display. See: Drunk history/Tim an Eric, etc.

Glad to see it. I tend to be one to have blind faith in the potential of generally one-sided actors. that's why I'm exited for Cera in this, Cage in Kick-Ass, and Evans in Captain America.

Yeah, the writing is much tighter in the later books. And re-reading Volume 1, I was surprised at how big of an asshole Scott comes off as. By the end of volume 2, he's just a lovable rube you can't help but like.
