Actually, it could. There's a big difference in the way Disney does business compared to how WB works. WB has mostly been hands-off with DC, letting them do their own thing while raking in merchandise and movie money.

Disney, on the other hand, is VERY controlling of its divisions. They have a family-friendly image to maintain, and they're very devoted to keeping it going in every brand associated with them.

In other words, Disney is much more likely to step in and force changes in Marvel books. They're much more likely to kid up various Marvel properties. And every Marvel movie is now a Disney movie. Get ready for obnoxious singles by the Jonas Brothers over the credits and toned-down violence.

Disney is infamous in the entertainment world for a reason. They run their company like a dictatorship.

    Ain't It Cool:

Basically, movie deals are unaffected until licenses expire, at which point Disney/Marvel probably won't renew the contracts with other studios, and depending on your interpretation either there'll be a Marvel movie made by Pixar or more Monsters Inc./Incredibles comics.

UPDATE #1: In a conference call, the companies said that the deals for movies for characters at other studios (Spider-Man, X-Men, etc.) will stay in place under the terms set by Marvel and the other studios.

UPDATE #2: John Lasseter met with Marvel last week about a possible team-up between Marvel and Pixar and got "pretty excited, pretty fast." They say there's definitely an opportunity there.

UPDATE #3: The deal with Paramount Pictures to distribute "Iron Man 2," "Thor," "Captain America" and "The Avengers" stays in place as well, but Disney would like to self-distribute down the line. "When the time comes we'll take a closer look at it."

Except that isn't true at all. Disney turned out r-rated films through Miramax because no one knew Miramax was a Disney property. That changed as soon as Dogma came out and the general public knew that Miramax was owned by Disney. Suddenly they couldn't make anything provocative.

Well, everyone knows Disney is buying Marvel right off the bat. It's front-page news. Marvel's image is now tied with Disney's. So you can bet they're going to take steps to make sure nothing hurts that image.

Scary Movie does not count as quality. Miramax was good prior to being bought by Disney.
Also I notice that another Disney subsidiary created to release adult material isn't mentioned: Hollywood Pictures.
Its films were so bad the phrase "if it's Sphinx it stinks" was commonly used to refer to its productions.

But if Miramax can release Dogma and Kill Bill even after the Disney/Miramax link became public (even years after), then I'm not too concerned. It suggests that Disney is NOT as extremely tyrannical as some people say.

New managers tend to do things differently than the old.

Iron Man was Marvel produced. That's why it was so good.
