The manga is ending soon so I was wondering, what do you all expect to happen? Something satisfying, boring or a troll end? I think the pacing has gotten really slow so it seems it's just going to end with Shinji leaving the lcl. Yui already told him everyone can come back and that was pretty much the end of EoE save for the strangling but we won't get a scene like that here for various reasons.

You're forgetting that the "receptive" Shinji still killed Kaworu, when as we find out now he didn't need to do that. That's only in Kaworu's scenario (which happens also after he's convinced to join Shinji's side). In Shinji's scenario, he manages to save Kaworu, which makes him sane enough to face the MPEvas in time (with Kaworu help), saving Asuka. Meanwhile Rei, being show that there is another way to do things, betrays Gendo, never merges with Adam and leaves to find Shinji. Shinji greets her after the victory and both hold hands thinking about how they are capable to live with people in his world.

That's my problem with Rebuild too. Same thing happened with Rei as well. It's like Poka Kaworu now. They really lessened all the interesting aspects of their characters, I guess since they want to make Asuka and the other angel hybrids look more impressive.
The previous movies seemed to be building up to something interesting with the moon, moon coffins, Mark 6, timelooping, nerv uniform etc but then it all got dropped. He doesn't even use his angel powers except for the most basic shit.

I think it's more like Kaworu wanted to believe it was there but it really wasn't. They fell out of tempo quickly once Shinji's hotbloodedness kicked in. But Shinji was in a terrible state of mind from the start so it'd never work out.

Kaworu is an immortal god whom is fully aware of what he is and lived much longer than Shinji ever has and has a variety of powers and knowledge due to being an angel and living for longer as he says in the movie. Well we don't have confirmation of that..and that's just pachinko. Given from how things are in the movie they still are by no means equals, at least not yet. Perhaps something will happen in the final movie though, it seems to be leading up to something. When they put Shinji into a situation like in Q where he is not able to grow up and develop, he isn't going to reach Kaworu's level anytime soon. Kaworu has too much knowledge and his way of working is too mature for him to be merely 14 mentally. I doubt he has experience in the real world and with many people but he's clearly lived a while especially if looping is involved.

I can't remember specific examples but yeah that's because Shinji isn't human anymore. Asuka does the same thing. Even as non-humans they still are not equals. Especially as Kaworu was always an angel and one who is unable to die from the start among so much more. Shinji isn't even on the same level as Asuka whose had years to try and come to terms with what she is and deal with some things and get used to her angel-traits. Kaworu level enlightenment is an even further goal.

I don't think that would've been a smart move on Kaworu's part, considering Shinji's mental state and all. The news of being an angel, or half-angel or even a FAR-like being would being too much for Shinji, especially after all he's gone through with Nerv, Wille, etc. He wouldn't take it well at all.

If Shinji really is no longer human anymore, then I think Kaworu not telling him the news was a smart choice, for the moment being.
