I was reading all the hype about hummus and was reluctant to try it. It just didn't look or sound appealing to me. I finally gave in because if I'm going to be in the culinary field I need to try everything! I saw a small container on the Xmas table and dipped a spoon in to sample some.

    OH. MY. GOD

Sooo good! It tastes like bean dip! I got the roasted sweet pepper kind and you can taste the sweetness of the peppers and the flavor of the chickpeas. I also got a hint of lemon. The taste is phenomenal! I got out a tortilla and went to town. I was extremely amazed at how good it is! I suggest that if you want a great dip go for hummus! I plan on trying more flavors the next time I go grocery shopping!

Lucky you, I ate at a Greek restaurant for christmas eve with my family. The hummus there is usually good but this stuff tasted watered down. I could barely taste anything in it.

I wish I liked hummus, because it always looks so good. But every time I try it I am sorely disappointed.

I love hummus. Great alternative to expensive chip dip. It's pretty much made from the same stuff, only that when I made it I used chickpeas instead of beans.

If you've got the spices and time, here's a recipe

    Ingredients:

1 16 oz can of chickpeas or garbanzo beans
    3-5 tablespoons lemon juice
    1 1/2 tablespoons tahini
    2 cloves garlic, crushed
    1/2 teaspoon salt
For a spicier hummus, add a sliced red chile or a dash of cayenne pepper.

    Instructions:

Put all the ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until mixed and smooth. Serve in a bowl. Hummus can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and can be kept in the freezer for up to one month.

    Hype? About Hummus?

Is hummus supposed to be something exotic now?

    Yes... IN AMERICA.

    ....I am assuming sarcasm there.

Cause every grocery store in America carries hummus.

Yes, and boredom. As far as hype goes, I'd say it's hyped among vegetarians.

let me introduce you to Backwoods, USA. If you go to a fancy store like Wegmans you might find hummus but not at the corner shop.

Why is this still happening? Who's falling for it?

Would have to be pretty backwoods.

Maybe local stores won't have it, but any large chain, Jewel, Dominicks, Kroger, etc, would have it.

Because somebody has issues, I guess. At least the /b/tard trolls are funny once in a while.

WHATS ALL THIS HYPE ABOUT HUMMUS.

    THAT I'M READING ABOUT.

    It gives legumic blowjobs.
    >> Anonymous 12/26/08(Fri)14:31 No.740652
Ummmmmm chickpeas and beans are both legumes. So it pretty much is bean dip.
I like my hummus thick as fuck. Unfortunately hardly any place makes it this way. Fortunately it is easy as fuck to make. EASIER than fuck to make.

I was reading all the hype about bento and was reluctant to try it. It just didnt look or sound appealing to me. I finally gave in because if Im going to study japanese I need to not be such a gaigin (that's japanese for american!) I saw one at the local con (that's japanese for convention!) and used some hashi (that's japanese for chopsticks!) to try some.

    OH. MY. GOD.

So good! It tastes totemo oishii desu! I got the hello kitty kind and you can taste the sticky rice (japanese rice is different than american rice!) But now I need my own but I need help finding it.

Im looking for a bento box, it cant be pinku (thats japanese for pink) or any girl color. It has to be of 2 or more kotoba (thats japanese for 2 compartments) and has be be chibi (small) sized. And has to be really kawaii (cute). Also It has to be about 10-20 bux. And you have to post pics of it first (i want to make shure it's kawaii [cute]). And it would be nice if it came with matching chopstick holder (WITH chopsticks). OH! and it CANNOT have any cartoon pictures, or be made out of plastic. It has to be made of ceramic, or something like that. Also it would be nice if it was made in japan. and not in china or corea (korea) or whatever. I have found a bento box similar to the one im describing in e-bay, but it was 1 kotoba, and i dont want my gohan (rice) to touch my other things (it can get wet and i would not like that, plus 2 compartments looks more kawaii)
