So I've been told flipping your meat more than once is bad.

    Why is it bad though?
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)12:13 No.3572949
    It's not, it's a cooking myth
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)12:23 No.3572966
The reason I've heard was "you lose juices that way," but I don't think it makes a significant if even noticable difference.
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)12:23 No.3572967
It's not really bad, just unnecessary.
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)12:28 No.3572979
The steaks in OP's pic didn't need to be flipped at all.
Also someone took larges bites out of each one before cooking.
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)12:30 No.3572984
Yep because I like my meat burned to a fucking cinder before eating it.
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)12:32 No.3572988
By flipping multiple times you get a much more even heat distribution.
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)13:53 No.3573114
There is no need to. Get it right the first time you fucking retard or stick to salad
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)18:47 No.3573686
flipping only once allows for more even cooking. Its a suggestion but not a requirement.
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)18:52 No.3573698
    >>3573686
that doesn't make any logical sense
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)18:52 No.3573699
Because constant flipping is a sign of being an indecisive bastard.
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)18:55 No.3573703
Because you need the heat to go through the meat, and if you keep flipping it you cool each side of the meat before the heat to penetrate far enough to warm the middle, and end up with raw innards and overdone outards.
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)18:57 No.3573704
    >>3573703
The only way to cook a thick well-done steak without charring each side to a cinder is to flip it every 20 seconds or so.

OMFG, stop giving advice when you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

This. There's nothing wrong with flipping multiple times but it's retarded if you have to do it in the first place. Just cook both sides evenly the first time.

It's funny to hear people who think they have a clue about how cooking works. Watch the Food Network and everytime someone talks about "IT GETS THE JOOCES FLOWIN" they're talking out of their ass and it only make them sound more obnoxious.

i think the flip/no flip argument is really just about grill marks. if you flip more than once or twice, then you wont get distinctive grill marks. if you dont care about that i don think it matters.

His way is to keep it at a high temperature and he likes a rare steak. Of course he's going to have to flip it multiple times..

The ninniefaggot is probably referring to how most answers on Yahoo Answers are "I THINK THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS" with a load of bullshit in there.

In other words he's a nitpicking faggot

ninniefaggot is such a great term, we should use that term in the states more often. that and bollocks.
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)19:57 No.3573812
    >>3573807
We need a "bollocks". The closest thing we have to it is "crap" or censoring ourselves by saying "bull". We're really boring when it comes down to it

    >>3573812
lets just start saying bollocks. there are constant opportunities. it will catch on eventually, it fills a grammatical void the many people don't even know is there. yet.

That guy is one of those "crust" faggots, I hate that new shit fad.

A steak that is flipped on time gets all the crust I need and cooks very evenly.

You fuckers damn sure better know better than to flip chicken or fish more than once.
    >> Anonymous 04/25/12(Wed)20:12 No.3573846
the only reason I don't is so I get better looking grill-line. So for me its purely aesthetic. However, I will swear by the one flip rule with Ground-beef, like burgers.

    >>3573846
You get that grill line by rotating 90 degrees you dont have to flip
