A Taiwanese green with roses. They're cheap at around $18-$20/lb.
It sounds expensive, but when you figure a single pound is equal to around 450 grams and it takes 2-3 grams of leaf-tea to prepare a single cup of brewed tea, you get 150 - 225 cups of brewed tea per pound of leaf tea. Not bad at all, really.
Yeah, it's more expensive than Lipton black, but not much more (Lipton black costs about $12 per pound of tea bags). Furthermore, Lipton green ranges from only marginally less expensive to marginally more expensive at a cost between $17-$22/lb.
I prefer the one I buy. I can't say anything objectively about tea quality, but I can say subjectively that I enjoy the Taiwanese green with roses more than I do either Lipton variety.

Moot, d'ya prefer black teas exclusively or do you like others, too? I tend to prefer greens and wulongs, but I enjoy an occasional black tea from time to time. Had a cup of Kenilworth yesterday, in fact, followed by more greens.

Local Tea and Coffee emporium is the shit.

    I've got some
Oolong, Mango Sencha and Rose Congou.
Their Russian Caravan is very good. Their lapsang is a little too smokey, twinings is a little better. There's other local blends avaliable but they're all very standard, not to mention he supplies them to all the non chain local cafes so there's no point in buying them there when you'll end up drinking the stuff when eating out for lunch.

Anyway the emporium is pretty much everything you could want from one. Walk in and there's a counter along one side with all the Teas and Coffees in huge metal caddies behind it. On the other side of the shop are teapots, grinders, machinery, mokas, empty caddies, turkish pots, monnin syrups, mugs and flasks. The owner frequently visits trade events. He also trips to plantations to ensure the quality and standard of production before choosing a supplier.

I couldn't possibly ask for more.

Neither is rooibos while we're on the subject.

Similar preparation doesn't mean both are in the same family of drinks. You can prepare coffee in the same way as tea if it's done right... but it doesn't make a tea.

I've just finished a nice normal cup of PG tips tea. Because tea is just tea and all other variants besides green are just lies. I mean, the hell are all these other types of tea? Earl Grey is disgusting. And that's all I know about types of tea. What is this Peppermint tea and iced tea and jasmine and blackberry and morning and whatever teas?

I'm english so we just have tea. Good old tea, simple and reliable all year round. Tea.

alishan green first pick. Fucking amazing, but the finish is a wee bit astringtent and weird, but its a great multi cuppa. I pour hot water right over a scant teapsoon of leaves in a big mug, and the first cup is rich is strong caffiene and spice notes. Second pour, the leaves open up and the tea is fruity and sweet and fuckwin. third pour, its still delicious but its noticeably lighter in taste, so more refreshing.

I'm currently between teas. Used the last of my decent 1 lb box of $4 tea (one of my favorite pasttimes: buying bigboxes of cheap tea, and crossing my fingers. It's a crapshoot, but I've gotten some really decent tea out of it. Also got literal dirt-flavored dust once, so it balances out.)

All I've got on hand is some shitty Ahmad Earl Grey (okay, not terrible, but it's soapier than Earl Grey "should" be, and not really something I'd consider "normal" tea.)

I'm not a big green or white tea fan, I need that black punch.

It is a black tea that is curled up like jasmine pearls, and is slightly smokey, kinda like a Russian Caravan tea. it's pretty fuckin tasty. Although other ones I've been digging on is Keemun black (the original english breakfast, previously to them knowing India could grow tea). I love living right near chinatown.
