I love these pictures of people and all the food they have in a week.

Does anyone have any more? doesn't necessarily need to be a the food consumed in a week, it could be a month/year/whatever. And it doesn't have to be some exotic foreign family

I just want pictures of people standing by what they will eat in a set amount of time.

I live in NC, in an area where living costs and taxes are high, and wages are low. I hate these kind of stupid comparisons. Look at this modified pic. 350/ week for a family of four?Thats 1400 per month. Well yeah, If you choose to eat two take out pizzas and fast food, chinesse take out, 3-4 12 packs of soda and bottles of soft drinks, 3-4 jugs of fruit drink, 4 big bags of chips, and buy name brand pasta and other sauces, not to mention bottled water. Most families of 4 I know, white black, or other, rich or poor, live on 450 or less per month. The other pics are the same.
    >> Anonymous 12/07/11(Wed)22:06 No.3268957
Europeans may have forgotten, but their love for sparkling waters comes from a tradition distrust of the natural water supply especially through taps. Carbonated water was an early purification method.

It was something that's been passed on so much that people don't even think about it anymore.

I feed two people, myself included, on roughly... $50-75USD monthly... or less. Foods intented for homecooking, bought on offer/sale with a fully stocked freezer, dry pantry and fridge.

Well, there's the problem. You're not counting money you spent in the past. that food laid out in OP's picture is all the food they ate that week, and that dollar amount it what all that food costs. They didn't necessarily spend $342 on food that week - lots of it could have been purchased in the past - but they did eat $342 worth of food.

Yes I am. That's why I gave myself the range of $50-75USD; the higher end of that figure is to stock my freezer with meat or if I want to splurge on good steaks.

It's cheap because of the sorts of foods we eat. I grew up in a multicultural background and eat the foods from those cultures. Most of them are stews and stir-fries and are generally fairly cheap to make. If I cook a stew for dinner, we always have at least another four servings left afterwards and it costs about $2-4USD for the pot. Our stews are based on beans, legumes and pulses, mostly, or potatoes, all of which are cheap, filling and delicious. One of my favourites is butter lentil chicken stew which I posted on another board recently. I'd be happy to post the guidelines (no recipe, sadly, since I don't really measure anything) if you'd like.
