Hi, /ck/ I need some help with fast food. Two of my friends are dead set convinced that McDonalds and such are perfectly healthy for you "because your body needs fat & proteins." I even went and hunted down the nutitional facts for McDonalds' menu and they are unphased. How can I convince them otherwise?
    >> Anonymous 09/25/11(Sun)17:45 No.3135901
You don't. It's not your problem.
    >> Anonymous 09/25/11(Sun)17:46 No.3135906
the issue is less that mcdonald's doesn't have what you need and more that mcdonald's has entirely too much.
    >> Anonymous 09/25/11(Sun)17:46 No.3135908
All fat =/= good fat. Your friends must be fucking simple not to realise that. Don't waste your time, OP, let their inevitable heart attacks get the point across.
    >> Anonymous 09/25/11(Sun)17:47 No.3135910
If your friends are determined to be fucking stupid, let them. You can't fix that kind of thing, you can only keep it from infecting you.
    >> Anonymous 09/25/11(Sun)18:04 No.3135947
If you try to convince them the truth and they still don't care, don't bother. They're air-headed.
    >> Anonymous 09/25/11(Sun)18:10 No.3135961
how has no one suggested "super size me" yet?
seriously, that is the best movie for fat people.

because Super Size Me has long since been countered with Fat Head

McDonald's is perfectly fine as long as you don't overeat and take a multivitamin.

Reminds me of the guy who ate an all twinkie diet and lost weight with no negative consequences.

I don't even fucking care if you're trolling. I'm going to make this point anyway. Fat Head was a pile of shit. For everything that douchebag accused Morgan Spurlock of doing (i.e. poor documentary making, fudging facts), he did 10 times over. If anything, the movie was most successfully a self-mocking documentary about the stupidity of documentary making.
His thesis wasn't even a direct counterpoint to Morgan Spurlock's, and he "proved" something that the science of nutrition has stated as fact for at least decades, if not centuries. Furthermore, his lack of consultation with professionals as opposed to Spurlock's makes me believe he was just paid off by the fast food industry. He disregards the general situation of the working, lower classes as well as putting way too much credit towards the merit of the fast food industry as a whole.
On top of all that, his voice is annoying as fuck and he is remarkably condescending. All he needs is a beer gut and a few less hairs and he could be the next Tea Party nominee for President.

    >McDonald's is perfectly fine
    >and take a multivitamin

    lmao.

Well, there's your answer OP: McDonalds lacks nutrition. Food is supposed to supply our bodies with nutrition and the junk they use to create the McDonalds menu is not going to fill that role.
