/ck/ I am about to start making dinner, I am planning on having steak. Hoe should I make the steak?
    >> Anonymous 08/29/10(Sun)18:19 No.2188504
Salt, pepper, a little olive oil.

Toss it in a cast-iron pan if you got one and grill to rare or medium-rare.

Simple is best when it comes to stuff like steak.

    Pretty much this.
Although I prefer medium, but that's up to personal preference!

place the meat on 600 to 800 degrees F for 3 to 5 minutes per side. Finish in an oven at 300.

Same. Blew my mind how good the steak turned out. I had always thought I would need a BBQ for a decent steak, but the method Alton uses is great.

NY strip. Liberal amount of salt and pepper on each side.

Broiled in the oven (Haters gunna hate)

    ~4 mins each side

    Paired with some california cabernet

    Came out fucking fantastic.

Before cooking it, put salt on steak an add some oregano. Let it stay for a couple of mins for it to absorb the condiments.
Some oil in pan, chop garlic, add it to pan.
Add steak, add water every once in a while (1/4 glass).

    Eat

Why do people say steak is better with just salt and pepper?

Can I substitute that salt with garlic salt instead?
    >> Anonymous 08/30/10(Mon)11:36 No.2190300
    >>2190254

salt brings out the flavor in foods. I would add all three, but I am a garlic freak so that's just me.

I like making marinades of whatever's lying around. Just put some vinegar and oil in a good sized dish and add whatever spices you like, and whisk 'em. soak the steak for 15-20 minutes, then grill or broil.

I've found it works pretty okay.
