    I am a cook at a TGIFriday's.

    Ask me anything.

And yes, that actually is the one I work at.

The cheese sticks are frozen stock, yes. The onion soup comes as a sort of concentrate. Mix it up, put it in bags, bring it to temp in hot water.

No idea when we switched to pre-packaged; I've been there less than three years.

And there are some things that are worth eating. The Sicilian Chicken Sandwich is pretty good. And since we switched brands of salmon, it's actually edible now.

Not naming any names here. But two of the cooks, one of whom got fired for being generally the slowest cook on one of the busiest stations, another who got canned for going to get a lemonade during the middle of the dinner rush on a Friday night (and he did this all the time, too), and servers who will complain that the plate is too hot because it's been sitting in the window because they were too lazy to run it, their wings aren't floating on a bed of sauce, and "Oh, I'm sorry, they changed their mind at the last minute, never mind that you've already made the thing and it took you ten minutes, here's their new, incredibly complicated order."

If I were given a free meal, we have a steak and rib combo, two sides. The ribs are consistently pretty good, and since we've switched to Angus beef, it's tasty as hell. I would avoid a lot of the chicken dishes; with a lot of them, the cooks precook about twenty chicken breasts at a time, then put them in a pan with a bit of hot broth at the bottom to keep them up at temp.

Well, if there are no managers present, and we're in the blind spots from the cameras, some of the cooks firmly believe in the "five second rule".

And the worst customers are the ones who think that they can just make something up based on things we have in the store, and then send their ungodly creation back because it doesn't taste good.

Simplest dish is probably the fried green beans. Drop 'em in the fryer, leave them there until they float, put 'em in a bowl, and serve. Most complicated varies from station to station, but probably the Sizzling Chicken and Shrimp. Requires three different sections of the same station in order to come out right, since you need to saute the shrimp, cook the chicken on the flattop, and melt the cheese on the skillet on the broiler, all while you have at least half a dozen other orders to work on.

so, the sizzling chicken and shrimp is the best thing to order during a particularly busy dinner rush? Excellent. I will ask the waitress to call the cooks a donkey to set the mood when she delivers the order.
