won't do it. Mi Goreng is superior to shitty ramen.

Shin Ramyun is good to start with. They make a potato noodle one as well which is good. Really though, why not get some fresh noodles and ingredients?

I've had a few kinds of potato noodle ones. I prefer working with the fresh noodles but typically am not home so I have food in my car that is non-perishable. This way, I can still eat something.

    Pork is easily the best...

That's a good point. I've found many good Japanese brands (in the cup, not packaged) at my local Japanese market. Marutai and Miyabi both make pretty decent instant ramen kits.

I'm going to post some pics later, but I recently found some cool new ramen bowls in the international foods isle. My favorite is the seafood or the chicken with sirachi or watever that hot sauce is.

There was one I found that was incredibly delicious. I can't eat it anyway since I'm vegan now but I haven't seen it since, so just a tip: If you see "braised duck flavor," buy it!

I personally like the ones that come in a little bowl. They tend to also come with chopsticks, although a "braised duck flavor" that I had in a cup-style came with a folded fork that you unfolded and it snapped in place. It was pretty awesome. I saw another kind the other day...it was a package of delicious eats, dried of course, and I was rather impressed. I'm going to buy it next time I go there and post it on /ck/. The great thing about Asian markets is that they have this stuff for cheap, but they have a lot of other great foods as well. A good example is shirataki, which sells for around 2USD in most grocery stores. In an Asian market, it's closer to 1USD. Tofu is cheaper, frozen food is cheaper, and I even found several flavors of tofu jerky for 1.25USD whereas tofu jerky I saw on some veggie website online was around 6USD + shipping.

Duck flavor? Sounds good. Yeah the Miyabi and Marutai ones come in bowls not cups.

Yep. Asian markets have good stuff, so do hispanic markets. Asian markets often have cheap and good produce. Their meats can be either great or horrid though. Basically ethnic markets have stuff you'll wish you had knew about for years.

All of them are pure shit compared to the awesomeness that was tomato flavored ramen.

I grew up in ethnic markets (namely Asian, but some Mexican, and I have shopped at Russian and Middle Eastern ones as well) and I'm always amazed when people don't know what I'm eating or how much something like that costs. I can buy an Asian sauce, like Pad Thai sauce, in a store for around 3USD, whereas at an Asian store, there are several varieties from 1-2USD. It's awesome. I just bought some fava beans at a Middle Eastern store. Big ass can, 1.39USD. I had been going to the local grocery store and buying fava beans there for 2.99USD for a can half that size!

Okay, now I'm out 4 srs.
