Devil In Her Heart - The Beatles

She's got the devil in her heart
    But her eyes they tantalize
She's gonna tear your heart apart
Oh her lips are really thrilling

    I'll take my chances
    for romance is
    So important to me
    She'll never hurt me
    She won't desert me

I've always wanted to play a theremin. not even to be able to play one, just to get my hands on--err...in? one. As for more normal instruments, I'd love to play the harmonica, or a small stringed instrument like the ukulele. The types of music I would wanna play...Anything, really. Funk is totally rad. Folk, punk, mariachi, polka, hip-hop, bossa nova, blues...Those all honestly interest me :)

Umm, here is a playlist I have been working on that I've wanted to share with people...http://tinyurl.com/po8bbh
It's got a few types of music on there, with artists like Leon Russel, Louis Armstrong, Nick Cave, Coldplay, Bright Eyes, The Polyphonic Spree, The Doors, Joe Cocker, and The Unicorns...

And here's my favorite AMV, it's for Haibane Renmei (Voltaire - Feathery Wings): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oMxckcYTg8

Ah, the theremin. I love electronic musical devices. I was lucky enough to play an old Minimoog back in school. Analog synths are great to play with, all the different oscillations, waves, modifiers, filters, and the 'bender'.

Dulling from within to find a reason for it all
    Lost for years
    In the storm
Waiting for the rain to stop me from washing me away
    I held on tight
    Awaiting night

And I lay me down to sleep
And find a world where I was free

    Imagine a place
    Where dreams lead the way
And all of your colors fade the grey
    Imagine the dream
    Now close both your eyes
    Fall into the violet skies

Deep inside your eyes it shows
You've been lost for too long
    Out of touch
    On the edge
I promise you will find a way
    I found a pathway home
    I'll carry you
    You're not alone

So now I lay us down to sleep
I found a world where we are free

    Imagine a place
    Where dreams lead the way
And all of your colors fade the grey
    Imagine the dream

That one clip reminded me so much of Floyd.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Part I) - Pink Floyd.

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the cross fire of childhood and stardom,
    blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger,
you legend, you martyr, and shine!

I want to get my hands on a glass harmonica. It has such an unique sound to it. Try some Mozart:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXSnI8VTIDM&NR=1

Then there's the glass harp (water and glassware). It has such an eerie sound to it, but it's sweet and the vibration throught the glass gives it that nice reverb.

Apparently Korn used the glass harmonica when they did MTV Unplugged. Look for it in this clip of them covering Radiohead's "Creep". It's not a bad cover either.

    The Distance - Live

Let him come into the city
Let him find his lucky penny
Let him put it in his pocket
    And shake it all around

I've been to pretty buildings, all in search of you
I have lit all the candles, sat in all the pews
The desert had been done before,
    But I didn't even care
I got sand in both my shoes and scorpions in my hair
    I saw that...

Oh the distance is not do-able
In these bodies of clay my brother
Oh the distance, it makes me uncomfortable
Guess it's natural to feel this way
Oh, let's hold out for somethin' sweeter
    Spread your wings and fly

Ok /c/, I have a question for you. Have you ever 'thrown some coins' to a busker (street musician) and if so, can you remember what they were playing?

I remember, a few summers ago, I was in the Toronto subway at the Bloor-Yonge stop when I came across an older gentleman playing a hammered dulcimer. It wasn't that busy so the folk music he was playing echoed through the halls. I passed up four trains just to listen to him, and yes, I made sure to throw a few loonies and toonies ($1 and $2 Canadian coins) into his case.

My last trip to Ottawa I ran into some guitar player by the Rideau Centre. He looked like an old biker that had seen too many road miles. Anyway, he was playing some 12 bar blues on an old beat up guitar that was missing the top E string. He was a pretty good guitar player, but his voice sounded like he'd been smoking Marlboros for twenty odd years. I tossed five bucks into his case. Why not.

Life Is A Lemon (And I Want My Money Back) - Meatloaf

I want my money back! I want my money back!

It's all or nothing, and nothing's all I ever get
Everytime I turn it on, I burn it up and burn it out

It's always something, there's always something going wrong
That's the only guarantee, that's what this is all about

    It's a never ending attack, everything's a lie and that's a fact
Life is a lemon and I want my money back

And all the morons and all the stooges with their coins
They're the ones who make the rules,
    It's not a game, it's just a rout

There's desperation, there's desperation in the air
It leaves a stain on all your clothes
And no detergent gets it out

And we're always slipping thru the cracks
    Slippin'

First thing I read on anontalk, just a couple minutes ago:
"This weekend I am going to have sex with a 38 year old friend for the first time, 20 years after we first met. Is this some kind of record?" Which now gets me thinkin'...

/c/, if you could get theoretically laid (that being the only method of getting laid for many of us), what kind of music would you go for, or if you could pick one song to be _your_ sex song, what would it be?
For me, it'd be "Peaches & Cream" by Beck.

I love the ukulele. I also love the mandolin. I just wish I had smaller fingers instead of the 'sausages' I have now. I would play Kentucky bluegrass, celtic and folk like they play on the East Coast (Nova Scotia/Cape Breton Isle, Newfoundland), even folk from the Mediterranean. Hell, I'd like to learn how to play the bouzouki too (Irish or Greek).

As I watch the spam and trolls creep into /c/ I find myself thinking about this tune:
Here Come The Bastards - Primus

    Here they come
    Here come the bastards
    I heard it from a confidant -
Who heard it form a confidant
    They're definitely on their way
    There's one with this idea
Something about a hammer head shark
    Nosehairs and flatus
    Best keep your distance because
Here they come here come the bastards
Bury your head deep in the sand
Anonymity is a virtue in this day and age
    Amazing hand dexterity
    Flagrant misuse of security
Better run, run, run, run, run
Run Run Run Run, here they come.

Stoa - Cantara [Dead Can Dance Cover]

I have no idea who Stoa is, but they do a great job covering Cantara. The female vocalist has a beautifully eerie voice.

    A good nu-metal band that's unfortunately forgotten.
This is from their debut album From One called "Sky"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HcsD20HZdw

I painted a picture, of a day gone past
An ancient scripture, a house of glass
    People looking through the window
    Never knowing what they'd find
    When they couldn't see me
I locked the door, left them behind
The sky will tell me... I'm not the only one
And the sky will tell me... I must believe the sun

I shut my eyes, to not go blind
Things I can't see, I see in my mind
Oh now the passing clouds of rain
    Have surely passed us by
    Poor is the man
    That believes his own lie

And the sky will tell me
    I'm not the only one
And the sky will tell me
    I must believe the sun
And the sky will tell me
    Long may you run
And the sky will tell me
    I must believe the sun
    (Yeah)

If I was wrong judge... me by name
I simplify... one and the same

And the sky will tell me
(and the sky will tell me)
    I'm not the only one
    (I'm not the only one)
And the sky will tell me
(and the sky will tell me)
    I must believe the sun
    (I must believe the sun)
And the sky will tell me
(and the sky will tell me)
    Long may you run
    (long may you run)
And the sky will tell me
(and the sky will tell me)
I must believe... (I must believe) the sun
    (Yeah)

Really great Black Metal with an amazing chorus.

Which bestows him the bread thou have not
Which feeds the follower on his grounds

    I know your cogency,
namely: A help to the high arm!

    Father,
    Thee who knows compassion,
Thou pay attention to our calls.
    King,
Thou hold the power of my breed
I pay my honor to you
O rejected Son of the dawn...
    We bleed for thee!

"It was during these early years that the catch phrase "Primus Sucks" was started. It began with people constantly stating to the band just how good they were. One day when someone told the band they were good, Claypool turned around and said "No, we suck" and from then on it stuck." [Wikipedia]

I now get your post, but you can understand how someone not completely familiar with Primus could take your post the wrong way. I apologize for any offence.

Dude, don't feel bad. I didn't know either. The only band I knew that used "we suck" as a catch phrase was Green Jello/Jelly ("Green Jello Sucks" theme song).

No need to apologize; I was testing you, and I am guilty of Primus fan elitism in doing so (I'm not even that big a Primus listener). You wouldn't think it works, but I did it IRL to someone at my college orientation. Enjoy Southbound Pachyderm

Wizard is cool but it kind of grates on my nerves. The song gets too repetitive for me; I wish they'd change up that harmonica melody just a little.
