lol Well, it's not that I'm necessarily lazy, it's that I'm just scared. I HAVE been made fun of for the things that I liked before and I really don't want that to happen again. I also have tried to go out there, but I just get so nervous and scared that I foolishly quit.
For example, I tried joining my school's anime club, but the furthest I've ever gotten was sitting outside of the room, too afraid to go inside. I just kept thinking "What if they don't like me? What if they think I'm one of those annoying fangirls? What if...? What if...?" It's those stupid, irrational 'what if's that kill me. Goodness, I sound so hopeless.

You're still in school? That eases things up a bit. If you really enjoy a series, just casually carry it with you. Not obviously or obnoxiously, like T-shirts or bookbags. Just sit yourself down and read your manga (if you do read manga... obviously) during breaks. Eventually some guy (or girl) will show interest. Best thing is, they'll filter themselves out based on how they perceive said manga.

Also, remember, not everyone is going to be the one.

Start getting your current friends into anime, and drop yourself into that anime club.

Whether you want to keep letting the what-if's control you is entirely up to you. Just let life live itself out, and stop caring, much less worrying. Not "throw your life away and work minimum wage", but just realize that there's a gargantuan probability that relationships you form throughout highschool will probably amount to nothing. Say it to yourself everyday if you have to. Not always, but most often do. That really helps, I can say from personal experience.

There's an anime club on the campus where I work...but crap, the couple times I've gone it's frickin awkward. They are all 18-21, I'm 46, adults like anime to ya know.

I don't have any bloody people to talk to about any of my relevant interests in person. None of my friends like anime or understand what I like about it.

Waaa waaa yeah I know. I suck. But what to do?

Woah...I've never met an adult who was into anime before, but I think that is SO awesome. And don't worry, you're not alone there. A huge majority of my friends don't even know what the heck anime is, so it's hard to talk to them about stuff I get excited about (like cons or manga release dates and stuff like that).

I used to worry a whole lot about how others perceived my obsession with anime. It doesn't bother me so much any more. I just decided that there was no reason for me to be so concerned over what other people (mostly those I didn't know) thought about me. I will also say that I have almost no friends in the first place, but the few people I talk to all dislike or could care less about anime. So, I took a hint from Konata of Lucky Star and just talk about it all excited. Do they understand what I'm talking about? No.....but why should that matter? I find that I get less people teasing me about it when I have confidence in the fact that I like anime and don't get embarrassed about it.

For the girls: there are some otaku males who look perfectly normal. Don't dispair
