Moe just means the feeling you get from the character. Sort of a warm and fuzzy blooming feeling in your chest, I guess.

There are five types of attractions.

1. Familial - Your family.

I know this thread is simply meant to fish out people who don't know any better but I just can't help myself...

moe is a character that you want to rescue, to put on a pedestal, to keep in a glass case. It makes you feel warm. You don't feel longing, you just feel human.

I think this appeals to a generation of people who realize they will probably not raise children.

moe characters are usually innocent, clumsy, helpless, or smart but not very self-aware. A cute girl who is borderline retarded is a good example, which is pretty much most anime girls.
