It's not that I necessarily prefer to be alone it's just that the only woman I could have ever truly loved is gone from my life. We're gradually approaching that point where we're going to run out of resources before we run out of space. In fact there's plenty of places where people are experiencing such a situation, pumping out more offspring than they can sustain. They may be adding to humanity's numbers but it's not doing any good when they can't survive for lack of basic necessities.
Thinning the herd would really be doing the rest of humanity a favor which is why reproduction doesn't have to be a priority for everyone right now, we have plenty of people and can definitely stand to do without a few, it'll actually help keep things going.
