1.
there is no correlation between gun ownership and good government. the
worlds best governments, sweden, denmark, japan, south korea, iceland,
netherlands, germany, canada, australia, norway etc. do NOT have
endemic gun possession. swizterland is the only exception, and their
extreme regulation would be completely unnapealing to the american right
2.
gun ownership is not a check on the government contrary to the violent
fantasies of right wing extremist militias. small arms are useless
against the modern military (hence why almost all casualties come from
IEDs in Iraq) and the firearms owned by americans are not sufficient to
fight the government.
3. ideologically, the gun-owning right
would side with a far right and tyrnnical regime, as they're the ones
most in support of reactionary tyrants such as reagan and bush who
belong to far-right, warmongering theocratic political parties, which
have the same core beliefs as most gun-owning conservatives. |
