Has anyone seen this Google Glass bullshit?

I thought it was an April Fools joke at first, but now they are serious. They have a prototype apparently, and my god, it looks fucking retarded. No person with dignity would wear that god awful piece of crap. It's like strapping a brick to your face, and then talking to it while it does the EXACT SAME THING a fucking smartphone can do.

It look's absolutely useless compared to an iphone or budget smartphone (This fucking piece of plastic is a full 600 bucks, I bet it snaps like a twig), and it's not even practical at the least.

Anyone else expect this crap to fail miserably, be FILLED with google ads, cause accidents, look stupid as fuck on the final product, and be a total waste of money?

I'd rather have a company like Microsoft (Who sucks dick at making hardware, so probably not) or Apple take this over, Google should stay as a search engine. No more, no less.

    what is it for?
    >> Anonymous (ID: i8aA7hh5) 04/13/12(Fri)16:14:13 No.393124371
No, I expect consumers to consume and buy it because it is a google product like the dumbass sheeplings they are. Same if Apple released a device like this (which they probably will in the future).

That thing is fucking awesome and you're an idiot.
I've waited my whole life for something that this to come along and I'll wear the fuck out it, with dignity.

Who the fuck knows, apparently, it's supposed to do exactly what a smartphone does - just hands free.

There is a clip that is on the google glasses that you can slide your original glasses in so that you have two glasses.

    >implying looking down at the smartphone in one hand is "smarter" than a HUD style setup.

I'll bet you text while driving, you putrid cunt.

At any rate, this is nothing more than progress. I don't know if you remember, but smart phones didn't exactly evolve over night (in fact they are still clunky in many many ways).

Also; a hearty fuck you to anyone dumb enough to support apple products. I'd like to give a swift kick to the nuts to anyone stupid enough to purchase an iPad. Enjoy getting fleeced for a touchscreen laptop with a decade old processor.

Are you fucking me!? I would kill for something like this so long as it had some form of additional touch user input. I feel like the overall design is kind of lacking though. They should make it look just like a normal pair of glasses imo or have an additional design for people who wear glasses such as myself

I don't buy solely Apple, so you know, but they would accomplish something like this so much better, and probably without making you look so stupid while wearing them.

Until 500 google ads cause you to lose visibility and stumble and fall on your face, shattering your 600 dollars glasses and leaving you with an injury.

They probably feel like something heavy is clinging onto your face too.

The technology and capability of a product such as this to respond to and run commands from brain-wave patterns is not far away. In fact, it can be done today. It's just a matter of a few years before such devices make it into the marketplace. So while this current prototype product may not be the next great killer product, something very similar is just around the corner...

ipod and iphone are a complete joke compared to several other mp3 players and smart phones.
Apple just has good marketing and ability to sell shiny crap to idiots.

    >talking to your glasses.
That is indeed silly, but really on as silly as talking to your hand/wrist/collar/whatever.

Anyhow, retinal tracking technology has been around for 15 years, as has been touch screen tech. This sort of HUD set up would almost certainly use your iris movements eventually. The issue is getting consumers to embraces it. I image within the next 20 years of so we'll have contacts which function as a HUD and computer, all controlled by eye movement.

when the ipod came out it was way better than any competing mp3 player. I know, I've had both. The droid is definitely better than the iphone, and mp3 players are basically irrelevant at this point, but when it came out, the ipod was the best one on the market

Why wouldn't people wear them? People wear blue tooth eat pieces and look like assholes, but that doesn't discourage them. Faggots (yourself included -- after all, you are OP) will buy this shit up like wild fire.

Plus, the privacy alone is worth it, no more people glancing at your laptop or looking at your phone screen.

People need to consider that stuff like this will be the "wave of the future" consider Siri and all the hype that produced. Its probably the most talked about "innovations" to phones lately. I think people look dumb as shit voice commanding their phone but they like it. You only look dumb if you are the only one doing it, eventually a majority of people will be talking to things like this then you will look like the tard who isn't talking to their glasses.

Now, here is the real problem to solve. The human eye cannot resolve (focus on) anything closer than 2 centimeters or so. Oh you can try to cross your eyes, but that isn't solving the issue. There would need to be some sort of illusion or mirroring going on.
